During a sweltering August in 1881, one of the members of the Seekers of Enlightenment receives a letter from an old friend, requesting help in solving a family mystery. It will soon become a matter of life or death…
'Well Forby did seem rather nervous. It seems unlikely but I'm quite happy to go ghost hunting with you Miss Beauchant' smiles Harry. 'We could take the opportunity to explore the communal areas of the house'.
Vic tried leaving the lantern on the table in the centre of the room, but found it didn’t cast enough light to illuminate the book titles. Sighing, she went back and fetched it, before walking slowly around the room, holding up the lantern so she could read clearly.
Even with the improved illumination, the standard bookbinding of gold print on brown leather wasn’t the easiest thing to read and after ten minutes, she was beginning to develop a headache. She sighed, straightened up and looked around the room. She wasn’t even really sure what sort of book she was looking for...
Before she succumbs to her fatigue, Vic manages to discern some order among the collection. Although placed haphazardly, the books all seem to belong to Nicholas, Aleister or Harry.
Nicholas’ books concentrate on the Classics, the history of Architecture, Art, and Sculpture.
Aleister’s tastes also included the Classics but also English History and the Advancement of Moral Thought.
Harry seems to have a love of Fishing and Gothic novels, including many of the classics.
The time is now nearing 10pm, and exhausted, Vic heads off to bed.
OOC: Vic now has a good idea of the layout of the collection but she's done for this evening. Further Library Use rolls are needed to find more. It will take some time to sort through everything.
Feeling tired, Alexander decides to call it a night, letting Vic know that he's going to turn in and telling her to wake the second shift when she's ready.
