Spoiler:
It's okay! This is one of the problems of playing in this format, it becomes hard to remember the details. And there are a lot of little details in this adventure. I think I'll make a thread for everyone to gather information so far.

The faces of both Forbys are dark.

“Well, you’d better get some damned solid evidence before you bring this up again Alexander!” says Harry. “What’s this malaise you’re talking about? Are you saying that this brain fever of mine was shared by my father and grandfather?”

Vic could hear the tone of Harry Forby’s voice and was glad she wasn’t in the library!

Carefully and quietly, she inspected the library wall to see if there was any obvious point of egress.

'This looks secure' says Harry, 'the intruder was around the back door, near the kitchen, which rooms lie above there?' he asks Meddler.

Vic can see the weight and pulley opening mechanisms against the wall of each room. She finds one for entering the library too.

Meddler thinks for a moment. “That would probably be George’s schoolroom. Or another bathroom.”

"I'll let Madame Beauchant address the malaise. First let me explain how we're going to find the emerald. Before we do that, I'll make sure we aren't being observed by anyone not of our party." He approaches the wall behind which the secret passage is. "Miss Miller, are you there?"

”There is no one here but me,” replied Vic, carefully activating the mechanism that opened the door into the library.

“Go on ahead” says Meddler. “I’m going to check the storage room next door. Can’t be too careful!”

Inside the library, the Forbys start in astonishment as a bookcase swings open, and a somewhat dusty Vic emerges, blinking in the bright light.

“Good Lord!” exclaims Harry. “I had no idea! How on earth did you find that?”

"We found out about it from your grandfather's diaries," says Alexander. "He knew all about these passages."

“Really?” says Forby, looking confused. “I read those a long time ago, but I don’t remember anything about secret passages.”

Another thought comes to him.

“Come to think of it, Nicholas was quite ill. Father also mentioned being plagued by headaches too. I should talk to Dr. Jeffries about this again.”

Gertrude puts her hand on Forby’s.

“We should talk to him soon” she tells him.

Turning to the companions, she asks, “Are there any other passages? Where does this lead to?”

”As far as we can tell, the passage links the library, and the family bedrooms. It’s accessed from the stable block,” replied Vic.

Spoiler:
Vic hasn’t been in the passage before so only knows what Isolde told her. Did she any sign of any other other passages on her way through? Also, did she notice if there were any tracks leading towards the bedrooms?

Aware of how close they are to the library door, Harry walks out into the hallway, at first he heads towards the back rooms but stops and turns back as if changing his mind. 'No, you're right Lieutenant, best do this methodically' he bellows and walks past the storage room to open the door to the bathroom making a fair bit of noise in the process.

Spoiler:
The passage is exactly like it was previously described, nothing more has occurred. If you all want to know more information, refresh your memories by looking at prior posts and add your thoughts to the notes so that you have somewhere you can easily reference.

“From the stable!” says Forby, in awe. “All this time, I didn’t realise!”

He checks himself.

“Wait a moment Alexander! Did you say you can find the emerald?”

Meddler says nothing as he enters the storage room.

"Aye, I did," says Alexander. "Now that I know we're alone, I can share it with you. There's a secret compartment in the fireplace here." He shows it to him. "It was the riddle that led us to it. The compartment contained a second riddle that will reveal the emerald." He reads the riddle to Forby and explains the solution. "I believe I've figured out what it means. We'll have to wait until evening before the emerald can be revealed. We'll need to light the fireplace then, and we'll also need a mirror so that we can reflect the firelight."'

As Alexander explained how he proposed to find the emerald, Vic stepped over to take a closer look at the old bath chair in the corner of the room. She knelt down next to it, checking to see if there any dust around it that might indicate whether it had, or had not, been moved recently.

Vic looked back over to the Forbys. “Does anyone still use this?” she asked.

Spoiler:
Can I try a spot hidden if that would help?

Forby looks excited.

“Excellent Alexander! Well done! We’ll certainly get you your mirror!”

Gertrude also looks pleased.

“That’s wonderful news” she says, “but Harry, you really should rest now so that you’ll be fit for tonight”.

“Very well” he reluctantly agrees. “Is there anything else, Alexander?”

“Nobody uses the chair anymore” Gertrude tells Vic.

Spoiler:
The chair looks undisturbed. It doesn't require a roll.

Vic is looking for dust to see if the chair has been moved. Although Gertrude says it hasn’t been used, she is looking for evidence to support that.

“Really though, you must keep this knowledge to yourselves; don’t mention anything, not even to the lieutenant or the doctor or even Bates. Not an inkling!” Isolde commands. “Even if we find the emerald there is still a mystery here and we are still examining evidence.”
