"Look!" says Sefina, pointing at the ground. "Footprints, and they lead toward the cabin!"

Well, that bites. Leo is now neutralized, so I won't get an extra action for at least one turn - more if I can't get rid of this thing.

It depends on what your encounter is, but you should probably go first again. You may want to stay on the Blasted Heath and try to find clues there, using "Look what I found!" It's a shame the Brood is at the Whateley Ruins, but if you have enough actions left after finding two clues (which is all we need to advance), you could head there and try to evade it. Then I could join you once I ditch the detective and spend our clues. Or we could try to just avoid the thing and hope it moves away (and not on top of us).

Wendy searches the Blasted Heath, kicking over stones and digging, with her shoe, in its sandy soil. She inspects the muddy toes of her already scuffed shoes, well they're small size boots really, and decides to rinse them off in the nearest stream. Wandering towards a ditch where a stunted willow grows, she desultorily scuffs against a rock, there's a spark from her hobnail striking against stone and the rock splits in two, revealing an oily coloured geometric pattern, a strange clue.

Nuts, that really bites! You should probably go first again. It'll take you two actions to move to the Whateley Ruins, which leaves you one to spare. Then I'll move there and advance the act, which leaves me two actions to get ready for the detective following me and whatever other horrible things happen. I'm thinking about collecting a third resource and then playing Shrivelling so I can toast the guy, but the Whippoorwill will hurt my chances.

The farmhouse is a wreck, in fact the entire place is a disgrace. "For how long has it been this way?" she wonders. Pulling out Mr. Pawterson, she thumbs his threadbare ear, then she takes a moment to inspect the raggedy thing. It's time to put away childish things, is the toy bear the reason she feels afraid? "He's got something to do with it," she thinks. But quite what and whether helpful or not, she can't determine. Mr. Pawterson sails through the air, landing in a patch of thistles, and this discard makes her feel much better.
