J-Cell (Rosa Vazquez, Michael Gavric)

It had been an ordinary day before the agents received the message on their phones. "You have been invited to a night at the opera -Andrea". This is a delta green call sign, and Andrea is indictating a clean-up/erasure case. The ticket is for a theater in Lafontaine, Missouri. The agents decode another part of the ticket and discover the threat is infectious, biological, dangerous, and that civilian casualties are approved and expected. Failure is not an option.

Your character has the chance to tell anyone significant in their lives that they are leaving, then will continue to the airport in whatever city they are occupying. Agent Gavric will be officially assigned a dummy case somewhere else in Missouri. The formal briefing will be at the Lambert Airport.

Gavric receives the message at home while preparing for work. He reads it without enthusiasm. He calls the office and tells them that he’s been requested to fly to Missouri – luckily he doesn’t have a pressing case right now, he’s been engaged on research with convicted prisoners. Although he wants to get back in the field, an infectious biological threat doesn’t sound like it will be a healthy experience.

Rosa Vazquez texts her parents to let them know that she's going to Lafontaine to assist with emergency response in the aftermath of the ice storm, which makes a good cover story. Texting is much faster than making a phone call would be. Her mother would probably keep her talking for hours, and she doesn't have the time right now. Whatever the mission is, she is certain that her skills would be useful.

The Agents flight to Lambert Airport is uneventful. Upon arrival, a man is there to greet them with a sign for Julieta and James.

They follow him into a private TSA conference room. Inside is a balding man in his early fifties, with a heavy paunch and deep circles under his eyes. He does not offer his name here but the Agents know him as DHS Special Agent Patrick Hill.

"Time is of the essence here so I'm going to get right to the point. As you already know an infectious agent has escaped containment in Lafontaine. A green box was compromised by the storm and things got out of hand before we could get anyone on the ground. We sent in a team to do inventory and we find out some creatures have escaped that use humans to incubate their young. One of the agents from the cell has attempted to go public and should be considered a major security risk. Priority one is the elimination of these creatures, but do everything in your power to keep all of this from the public, convince people they have seen something else. Agent James, you are authorized to use delta green memory erasing drugs on civilians and on the previous squad after debriefing. Gather or destroy the documents Q-Cell retrieved from the green box, they cannot fall into the hands of any other organization. You will be given full hazmat gear along with incendiary explosives and incendiary ammunition.

Any questions?"

Gavric shakes his head. It sounds like a real mess.

“What can you tell us about these creatures? How many are there? Can they be killed with conventional weapons?”

"They are vaguely apelike, and grow a secondary creature that will enter a human host and force it to acts of violence. Those killed by these infected eventually make more of the creatures. We aren't sure how many at this point, but you will be sent with a drone equipped with heat cameras. They have an astonishing healing factor, while we believe they can be killed by traditional weapons, an near-dead specimen will take less then a day to be back at full capacity."

Gavric shrugs. “This doesn’t sound like it can be resolved very easily, especially if there are many of these creatures loose. Can we request additional support?”

"The National Guard is on standby if absolutely necessary. Q-Cell has also recruited the help of the Lafontaine police department. You are the backup, however. We believe the outbreak is in its early stages and if we mobilize more units we risk knowledge about this thing getting out. We cannot allow this to happen."

“Okay” says Gavric. “Sounds like some desperate ass-covering” he thinks. He glances at the other agent, to see if she has anything to add.

"Do we know anything about these creatures' weaknesses or vulnerabilities?" asks Rosa, hoping for a better way to kill them.

"The creatures don't have eyes, so we are assuming they use some form of echolocation. We've equipped you with a few noise making devices, these things aren't toys, without ear protection these things are likely to deafen a person"

Gavric

"Are you coming with us Hill? he asks. "We could use the manpower". Maybe he knows the answer already, but he wants to hear it.

"I'm off the field these days, besides someone needs to coordinate this shitshow." He says to Michael Gavric.

"We should track down Q-Cell first," says Rosa. "We need to pick their brains, as they've been in this longer than us, and we can use their assistance - plus we need to keep an eye on the one who's threatening to breach secrecy. What are their whereabouts?"

"Lafontaine University, it still has power, heat, medical and scientific equipment. You'll be taken into Lafontaine on a troop transport, they're still having a hell of a time cleaning up the road going in and out of the city"

The Agents enter Lafontaine in the back of a Navistar Defense 7000-MV troop transport stuffed with blankets, clothing, and food. The ride is freezing and uncomfortable, but the disaster relief convoy has the only military vehicles capable of getting anyone across the icy Midwestern plains.

The agents arrive at the biology building of Lafontaine University. Image

Gavric looks for any available police to find the whereabouts of the Q-cell team.

After checking her equipment one last time, Rosa emerges from the troop transport and looks around for any sign of human activity.
Spoiler:
What weapons were we issued?

Spoiler:
An assault rifle and heavy pistol for each of you, three sonic weapons, some explosives
There is light in the biology building and a party is raging at the dorms. Despite the cold and ice, both agents see many scantily clad people having a crazy party.
