Music From a Darkened Room

The year is 1999. A group of agents with the FBI quickly discover a routine case is anything but. Thrust into a world that's as incomprehensible as it is deadly, can this team hope to hold back the darkness?

"That's a bust" says Nik. "I guess we'll have to go with what we know."

"Yes, we'll have to just proceed," says Vanessa. "We don't understand how it works, but so long as it does work, that's the important part."

The agents arrive outside 1206 Spooner. It's early afternoon, and a beautiful day in the town of Meadowbrooke. The sun is shining, and birds are chirping all around them. From somewhere down the street comes achild's laughter as he bikes back and forth.

1206 Spooner though seems malevolent, a contrast from their first time in the house when it had seemed remarkably unexceptional from the outside. It's almost like the house no longer felt the need to hide its true nature.

Dr. Yarrow waited down the street. The man had insisted on coming, but had equally agreed to stay out of the house. Still, he had given the agents his number and told them to call him if they needed assistance. To avoid the house somehow tricking him, he had agreed that the agents would use the word "applesauce" in any of their communications so that he knew it was legitimate. He wishes the team good luck and watches as they approach the house.

This was it. They would either go inside and banish the curse that lurked over the home, or they would become its next victims.

Spoiler:
You guys can have the furniture with you, the axe, and anything else you feel the need to have brought, within reason.

For rerference, here is the pic of the house's floor plan once again:

Good luck.

"Ready?" asks Vanessa, looking at the house through narrowed eyes.

The trio of agents enter the house, managing to push the furniture in with them. Thank God for coasters.

It's a tight fit, but they're able to get all the pieces into the house, and find themselves back in the foyer. It's rather cramped in here however. The dining room to the right and den straight ahead would both offer more space. To the left is the closet with the full length mirror. The closet itself is slightly ajar, but not enough to see what if anything was inside. If they wanted to examine it, they would have to open the door.

The house itself is silent, and well lit.

Vanessa takes the wooden wedge she has brought with her and wedges it under the open front door to make sure it stays that way. "Should we check out the closet first?" she asks. "We could use that mirror to try to contact Isabella."

The agents approach the closet. Nothing is inside save the hanging body of Barbara Turner, the realtor who they had all spoken with last night. It sways gently in the non existent breeze.

Spoiler:
I believe both Nik and Vanessa are hardened to violence, so no need to roll San here. Chaz unfortunately must. 0/1 for violence.

Everyone who examines the body can make a medicine roll. A success indicates that Turner has been dead for at least a day, meaning she was already when they spoke to her yesterday.

"She's been dead for at least a day," says Vanessa, examining the body. "She was dead when she called us on the phone, but that shouldn't be a surprise. We already knew Donnelly was. Everyone the house has killed is at its disposal. Shall I see if I can use the mirror here to contact Isabella?"

Chaz reacts at the sight of the body with a quick step backwards, stumbling over his own feet, falling on his ass while he utters a small yelp.

If Vanessa wants to try and contact Isabelle, please make a pow*5 roll. Also, the name is Isabelle, I may have written it wrong in the past, sorry for the confusion.

At first, nothing happens. And then a shape gradually begins to appear in the mirror. It's an old woman, and Vanessa is able to recognize her as an aged Isabelle Wheeler. Expressionless, she raises a hand and places it on the mirror, looking at Vanessa as she does so.

Neither Chaz or Nik see anything in the mirror at present, and must take Vanessa's word as to what she sees.

Spoiler:
No san roll needed at present for Vanessa, though that may change.

Nik extends a hand to Charley to get him back to his feet, hoping to calm the agent. The sight of the lifeless corpse of Barbara Turner has unnerved him, but he keeps his cool. He casts a worried glance at Vanessa however.

Vanessa places her hand on the exact same spot on the mirror, so that her palm appears (to her, at least) to touch Isabelle's.
