OOC:   Something that annoys me about this game, and the other Arkham games, is the build-up of things to remember, so that one forgets basic stuff, like the Mobster moving with Wendy. I don't find that fun. I'm gonna have her stay put, evade the Mobster, and hope.

3 Evade Mobster. Agility 4 +1[Peter] -1[Whippoorwill] +1[Scrapper] vs. 1, chaos token:
Tabs rolled 1d18:
7
-2 ; success! Exhaust Mobster.

Turn 10 Investigator Phase

One of the mobsters grabs Sefina by the arms as she tries to flee. "You're not goin' anywhere, dollface," he said with a sickening grin. Try as she might, she could not escape his grasp, nor could she get away from the monster that was still pursuing her.

Spoiler:
I'd meant that you should apply your first two evade actions to the Mobster rather than the Hunting Nightgaunt but leave everything else the same, but maybe we can't change actions once a token is drawn from the bag. I really don't think you still want to be in there after this turn.

Action 1: Evade (Agility 4 - 1[Whippoorwill] = 3 vs. 2[Mobster]):
Mr. Handy rolled 1d18:
8

-2, failure.

Action 2: Evade (Agility 4 - 1[Whippoorwill] = 3 vs. 2[Mobster]):
Mr. Handy rolled 1d18:
14

Tentacles, failure.

Action 3: Evade (Agility 4 - 1[Whippoorwill] = 3 vs. 1[Hunting Nightgaunt]):
Mr. Handy rolled 1d18:
18

-3, failure.

In the end, I had no choice but to stay either after my first two evade attempts failed. I wouldn't have survived dragging them both outside, as they'd hit me again after this turn.

Turn 10 Enemy Phase

The goon backhands Sefina, sending her sprawling to the ground with a bloody lip. While he rifles her purse, the flying creature descends upon her and tickles her mercilessly.

Spoiler:
Sefina's Bulletproof Vest takes 1 damage and is destroyed. Sefina takes 1 damage and 1 horror, and she loses 1 resource.

Spoiler:
Cheap Shot is awesome! That'll definitely help. Stealth is less useful for me since I can't actually play it without drawing attacks of opportunity (I was hoping for Elusive), but I can at least commit it for the Agility icon.

Spoiler:
Aw, nuts! Looks like I'm doomed now. I doubt I can kill or get away from all of them, and two more points of damage will kill me. Maybe you can escape and make your way back to the Village Commons so you can resign. Do you want to go first?

OOC:   There is one more roll of the dice, I think, but it will result in Sefina's sacrifice... Drawn to the Flame? Plus Wendy has one supply left on her Flashlight, if she could kill one of the Servants too that would be the 4 clues we need ?

Edit: Just thought, Wendy must get outta there, no matter what.

1 Evade Hunting Nightgaunt. Agility 4 +1[Peter] -1[Whippoorwill] vs. 1, chaos token:
Tabs rolled 1d18:
11
skull -4 ; FAIL. Wendy's ability: Discard Cheap Shot.
Tabs rolled 1d18:
14
tentacles ; FAIL. Sigh

2 Evade Hunting Nightgaunt. Agility 4 +1[Peter] -1[Whippoorwill] vs. 1, chaos token:
Tabs rolled 1d18:
18
-3 ; success!

3 Move to Burned Ruins, taking 1 damage from the Mobster--assigned to Peter who's discarded.

Things are becoming desperate, thinks Wendy, and her head aches trying to find a chance for success. "Surely the gods are against me!" She dodges the fugly thing again, just, then makes for the steps.

"Not so fast, you little runt!" The Mobster attempts to trip her up.

Peter Sylvester gets between these two."No you don't, you bully!"

For his pains, Peter receives another: a lead pipe upon his temple; he collapses, poleaxed.

"Peter!" screams Wendy; then, "Sefina!"

OOC:   Two more things, exhaust Sefina's Hunting Nightgaunt or it will move and attack Wendy on Sefina's death, and there's a chance that Sefina could keep on evading whilst Wendy finds the last two clues...

Spoiler:
I would do that, but when you evade a Hunting Nightgaunt, negative tokens are doubled, which makes that a failure.

Wendy's action 2 chaos token should be -6 ; FAIL.

3 Evade Hunting Nightgaunt. Agility 4 +1[Peter] -1[Whippoorwill] vs. 1, chaos token:
Tabs rolled 1d18:
14
tentacles ; FAIL.--That's 5 or 6 of those in a few rounds.

OOC:   Wendy is still in the Hidden Chamber along with a ready Nightgaunt and Mobster, and Peter is still with us as well.

Turn 11 Investigator Phase

Another goon, this one bigger than the first, grabs Sefina from behind. Screaming, she desperately tries to flee and lashes out with her switchblade, but she's thoroughly pinned.

Spoiler:
Action 1: Evade (Agility 4 - 1[Whippoorwill] = 3 vs. 2[O'Bannion's Thug]):
Mr. Handy rolled 1d18:
16

-3, failure. 1 Doom placed on the current agenda (2/7).

Action 2: Play Backstab, spending 3 resources, to attack Hunting Nightgaunt with 2 damage already on it (Agility 4 - 1[Whippoorwill] + 1[Stealth] = 4 vs. 3[Hunting Nightgaunt]):
Mr. Handy rolled 1d18:
9

-3, failure.

Well, that's almost it for me. If I'm still here in the Enemy phase, even if I evade one monster, I'm toast. We're probably both doomed. I could use my third action to play Drawn to the Flame, which will at least get us two clues. It may also result in me being carried out of here if I'm lucky and get the right encounter, but either way you'll be trapped with all those monsters.

OOC:   My God! there is still a chance for Wendy. Yes, use Drawn to the Flame.

Edit: Actually, if Sefina casts DttF she'll excite the monsters to an Attack of Opportunity, thus killing her. During the Enemy Phase they'll turn on Wendy!

Turn 11 Investigator Phase

Desperately, Sefina stabs one of the men holding her in the gut, but the other one wrenches the switchblade out of her hand. "You shouldn't have done that, Toots," he snarls. "Now we're gonna have to get rough..."

Spoiler:
Nothing for it but to go down swinging and hope I can at least take out one of the enemies, then.

Action 3: Activate Switchblade. Fight (Combat 2 + 2[Switchblade] = 4 - 1[Whippoorwill] = 3 vs. 2[Mobster]):
Mr. Handy rolled 1d18:
6

-1, success! 1 damage dealt to Mobster.

Enemy Phase

Wendy is attacked by the Hunting Nightgaunt and the Mobster, because of the Hypochondria card she goes insane.

Image

It is all too much. The accumulation of misfortune means a mental end to the little girl. As she falls to the floor, she thinks: "This is so damn unfair."

Sefina is attacked by the Hunting Nightgaunt and the Mobster and O'Bannion's Thug.

Turn 11 Enemy Phase

The thugs beat Sefina to a bloody pulp. "Nooo..." she moans weakly as the bigger one climbs on top of her and hikes her skirt. She shuts her eyes, tears spilling out from beneath the lids.

If no resolution was reached (each investigator resigned or was defeated):

The cries of the whippoorwills fade into the distance, and the town of Dunwich is filled with an eerie silence. All that can be heard is the dry whistle of the chill wind and the slow rustling of dead leaves. There is no sign of the missing townsfolk, nor will there be ever again.

Æ In your Campaign Log, record that the ritual was completed.
Æ If there were any potential sacrifces remaining at the end of the game, place them underneath the agenda deck.
Æ In your Campaign Log, under “Sacrifced to Yog‐Sothoth,” record the names of each unique card that is underneath the agenda deck. Each of those cards are removed from all players’ decks and can no longer be included in any players’ decks for the remainder of the campaign.
Æ If an investigator with the Necronomicon (Olaus Wormius Translation) in his or her deck was defeated, in your Campaign Log, record that the Necronomicon was stolen. The Necronomicon (Olaus Wormius Translation) must be removed from that investigator’s deck.
Æ Each investigator earns experience equal to the Victory X value of each card in the victory display. Each investigator earns 2 bonus experience as he or she gains insight into the hidden world of the Mythos.
Æ Proceed to Scenario V: Undimensioned and Unseen.

OOC:   Wendy lost the Necronomicon, but we both gained 2xp.

Spoiler:
That bites, but at least Dr. Armitage is okay. We'd gotten off to such a good start, but those enemies just kept piling up on us.

The saved decks are messed up somehow. They only have some of the cards in them.

It feels like we got hammered by the game despite playing well, which seems unfair. :(
