Re: Restaurant

"It doesn't feel like that much time has passed," he says, confused. "Feels more like six weeks or so. I stopped counting but ... over a year? It couldn't be." In response to the walking away question: "Yeah, they did. They never got very far and later when people passed by ...

Re: Restaurant

"The third of September, 1939. 7PM, roughly. I don't know how long it's been. We don't exactly have a real day-night cycle here. Sometimes there's fog and a vague kinda light, sometimes no light at all."

Re: Restaurant

"Everyone died but me," he said softly. "Originally I was trying to keep everyone ... not happy, exactly. I was trying to keep morale high when we first arrived. I'd keep everyone away from the doors and we kept to groups no smaller than three. The Train Manager became *different* fir...

Re: Restaurant

"Sounds like a question for the station manager or operator or whoever he is. He's often babbling with weird terminology like that." He leans back on his chair, eyeing them off. "You guys are planning to find a way out, aren't you? Yeah, I can see the look in your eyes. I had that loo...

Re: Restaurant

"I don't know but I don't think we were the first here. There were signs that others had been here, had died at the station. I *do* think we're the first train to stop here, though, and the train itself just never continued onward. Or perhaps it's simply that I survived and that for so long as ...

Re: Restaurant

He takes the carrots and the sherry, eyeing them hungrily. The man clearly hasn't eaten well in awhile. He doesn't speak until after he has consumed two of the carrots, then looks up at them. "You wanted to know things about what's happening? I don't know what to tell you other than it's been h...

Re: Restaurant

There's a bottle of cooking sherry in the back of the pantry and a small bag of carrots that look a little withered and old lying in the small cooler.

Morgan shakes his head. "Yeah, that's not at all how this works. I stay in the well-lit rooms whenever I can. You want me to talk, you get me the food I need to survive."

Re: Kitchen

The restaurant is warmer now. A fire blazes in the fireplace. You can see the man from the train is sitting at the piano, playing to himself and humming. A glass of whiskey rests on the top of the piano. He doesn't look over at you as you crack open the door. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58GQx4xE...

Re: Kitchen

You can hear piano playing in the restaurant. It’s a cheery, yet slow, melody that seems somehow sad in contrast to your experiences. As though someone were playing the very essence of depressed nostalgia … that very feeling that nothing will ever be okay again … by reminding you that the world outs...

The schedule suggests a train should be pulling in right now.

More disturbingly, the schedule has aged somewhat.

Re: Kitchen

It takes a moment but he gets the stove lit and they start warming up the letter. While they stand and wait for it to defrost, they feel a tremor run through the floor of the building as though a train were rumbling into the station. But there's no sound of the other train leaving nor a new train ar...

Re: Kitchen

The letter is cold to the touch and slightly frozen together, as though frozen tears may have melded a few pages. It may be better to let it slowly warm up with body heat before you read it. Re: Kitchen

The walk-in freezer holds empty shelves and a person, dressed in the clothes of a ladies maid, huddled in the corner and quite obviously dead. Her arms are frozen around her knees, as though she had sought to keep herself warm in the cold and the darkness. She has a letter bunched in her icy frozen ...
