IC-Ep 2-The Empty Dock(Edward Barrett only)

Docking Bay - Styx Base, Pluto
0655 GMT - Tuesday, August 9, 2112

Lt. Edward Barrett entered the docking module. When he got to the airlock leading into the docking bay proper, he could see from the panel next to it that the docking bay was depressurized and deserted. The dome was closed, and the only ship in the bay was the massive Charon's Ferry, which had brought him to Pluto. Captain Desjardins had not yet returned with the Demeter.

Seeing the empty docking bay, Edward had no choice but to wait.

Edward realized that he could be waiting a while. Though the docking bay itself was depressurized, there were lockers with vacuum suits out in the corridor if he decided that he'd rather wait inside the bay.

Bored and impatient of waiting outside the docking bay, Edward decided to dawn a pressurized suit take a look around inside.

[Mr. Handy]

Edward put on a spacesuit and then entered the airlock leading to the docking bay. He waited while it depressurized and then entered the docking bay. The dome was still closed, though it was transparent and he could see through it. The ships had not returned yet. At the moment only Charon's Ferry was parked here. The huge transport that had brought them all to Pluto took up most of the space in the bay.

Edward gazed through the dome of the docking bay, scanning the horizon for movement.

As Edward watched, a small panel opened up in the floor of the docking bay and one of the base's two drones rose up, apparently under remote control. The dome slid open briefly while the drone made its exit, sealing shut behind it.

[Mr. Handy]

Edward received a message on his radio while he waited. It was George Bond hailing him.

[Mr. Handy]

"Hey, George," replied Lt. Barrett. "I'm in the docking bay waiting for the ships to return. What's up?"

Just then, the general's voice came from the public address system: "This is General Pryce. Lt. Colonel Bruce has been taken by the aliens. Captain Desjardins and Lt. Hu are returning in the Demeter and the Persephone with an alien specimen and one of their weapons. Major Orlova and Captain Bauer, please report to the medical lab and prepare for an analysis of the specimen. Private Torres and Private Bond, please report to the astrophysics lab where you will assist Lt. Hu with an examination of the weapon."

[Mr. Handy]

"Just checking up, sir," said George. "You've been gone a while. I'm heading over to the lab now."

As Edward watched, he saw the Persephone and the Demeter come into view overhead through the transparent dome. As they hovered, the dome retracted to allow them to land.
