OOC- Chapter 3- Over, Under, and Through- General Discussion

As the afternoon gets underway, the survivors from the T-Bone have been split up. The helicopter group must land at an airfield halfway to Omaha for refueling. Those still on the surface try desperately to defend the motel, while those trapped underground fight for their lives as they search for a way out.

Handy, a quick question from the police cruiser: Shall I put Kat in suspension mode and pick a character from one of the other threads?

Dave, you're free to choose one or more additional characters at any time as long as you read the required chapters, even if Kathryn's thread becomes active again. Laraqua did log onto the board and post in one of her games today. She's been very busy lately because she has exams, and she's likely to conitnue to be busy this week. Hopefully she'll be able to post more regularly once her exams are over. You can wait until she posts for Gardner before you continue posting for Kathryn.

That was hysterical, Alex. You might want to check out this site's own play-by-post game of The Haunting in the Hall of Fame, where I played Juliet Allan. It's not too long and a great read. You can find it here: http://www.callofcthulhu.org.uk/viewforum.php?f=51

I'm planning to update all of the IC threads tonight, but it's going to take me a few hours. I've got a lot of catching up to do first.

Yeah, I read The Haunting last week, Handy. Novel interpretation of 'using your head', haha!

I figured you might like what happened in my little campaign - Cuchulain and Roucheau are talking about petioning to have my title changed to Corbitt's Pimp in recognition of my ability to make my players do the most ridiculously stupid things. I trust I can count on your vote?

Technically, Juliet used someone else's head.

You've got my vote on that, though I don't think you made your players do anything stupid - they seem to be doing it all by themselves!

Granted, although I did fudge the dice a bit to ensure he succeeded...

Good luck with 'The Siege' by the way - that's a lot of stuff to get through. Sorry! 8-)

That's okay, I'm just glad you're having fun. The update should be done in about an hour, maybe a little longer.

Well, it will probably take me at least an hour from now to finish the update - if I can even manage it tonight. Go ahead and get some sleep. I won't be able to post again here for at least another 18 hours after I go to sleep anyway.

The haunting was my first scenario as a keeper, but that was hilarious! Glad you had so much fun...
By the way, i started to play silence hill 1. I like it (good the story, and the atmosfere) but the movies are a bit annoying. And i'm reading the comic "the walking dead", it really reminds me Romero (specially dawn of the dead).

Silent Hill 2 is easily the best of the series. The plot is really dense and uncomfortable, and Pyramid Head is the freakiest villain in any game ever (especially when it... ah, I won't ruin it for you...)

Silent Hill 2 is great! I've also played 3, but it isn't as good as 2. I have Silent Hill 4, but it won't run on my PC because my graphics card lacks pixel and vertex shading, but I'm planning on getting a new computer soon anyway. I've never played or even seen Silent Hill 1, though.

3 is a continuation of the story in 1. In fact, the main character from 1 ends up being slaughtered early on in 3 (Heather's Dad). 1 takes second place in my opinion, although Silent Hill 4 (despite its flawed gameplay) gets major props for having a seriously twisted and unpleasant plot, darkening the tone still further and being relentlessly lunatic. And it's probably the most Lovecraftian of the lot, to boot. I have a soft spot for the theme tune as well -

'Here's a lullaby to close your eyes,
You were everything that I despised,
I don't care enough for you to cry,
Here's a lullaby to close your eyes...
Goodbye...
Goodbye...'

Tip for ya, when you do get it running - DON'T TRY TO FIGHT THE GHOSTS!!! They're totally invincible!! Oh, and don't play it with the lights off... Trust me.

Incidentally, Handy, I'm sure you know which Pyramid Head-ism I was referring to above... the bit in the apartment where you hide in the closet... :? *shudders*

Silent hill 1 is my favorite by far. I dunno just being attacked by the ghostdemon bastard babies scared the heck outta me when i was younger. And even though I know the game looks like hell, I can still picture it in my head through young eyes as the most terrifying thing ever. Ill never forget just the fog and the screeching radio. I didn't even need to see the monsters(the flying pterodactyl looked really stupid btw) But Silent hill 2 is very good as well. The screeching from Pyramid sword... Good series and I cant wait for the next one. 4 wasn't bad but eh it just lacked something.

Actually, I don't remember that part (and several other parts). It's been quite some time since I've played it. I'd rather not see any spoilers, though. It'll be like playing it again for the first time when I finally have time to play it again.

Why, thank you!

Zombie coyotes have been around since Chapter 2 (actually, I think there was a brief sighting at the end of Chapter 1). This bunch was previously seen prowling through an overturned Greyhound bus on the highway. They were on their way for quite a while and were due to arrive at this time. Phillips just happens to be in their path. If someone upstairs doesn't like him, it must be Sergeant Black - he's the one who sent him out there knowing the danger! ;)
