OCC- Ok, Ash, your off the game. Sorry, but you're ruining other player's games and that can't be tolerated. Good luck with your own campaigns on this board. We'll ignore everything that has happened from when Ash pulled the gun on the radio operators till now.

IC-

THe operators are busy and barely notice as Giles and Harry step into the room. Finally one of them looks to the two men and asks, "Do you have to put a call through sir? We are a bit busy as many of the guests are putting calls through to family members explaining the situation and making other plans. You will have to wait a few minutes to put a call through."

Meanwhile, Reynolds has been following the telelphone lines. Its quite clear that the telephone lines connect to the radio room. MOst of the lines go to the hotels, the local hospital and even one of the dig sites. By keeping them all connected to the police station, the communcations network is connected. If they are to disrupt the communications it must be either at the radio room or they should cut the lines leading from it. If only there were some way to signal Roland out with the beduoins? HTe man could cut the lines between Giza and Cairo.

Reynolds stops a policeman as he heads back towards the radio shack. "Office. Is there a wireless unit here? I am new, recently deployed to help out with the problems."

THe man stops and salutes. "Yes, sir. There is a wireless unit in the commander's office. I believe the fellows at the dig site have another."

Giles suggests they head to the radio room at he dig site and cut the lines there

IC Reynolds catches up with Harry and Giles at the barracks, pulls the men aside, and says, "We've got a bit more complex problem than we thought."

He then explains the communications challenges. Yu actually have have three communications centers to contend with- the telephone network- you should be able to cut the lines if you can create a distraction. There is also a wireless unit in the commander's office- in generally the the same building as the police barracks and the telephone dispatch. Then there is the wireless at the dig site- you are not exactly sure where that is.

Reynolds nods. "Now I think we might be able to pull a fast one. If we can take out the telephone lines and the commander's wireless, we will throwa wrench in their works, but they will probably move to protect the remaining radio. So we should try to take out at least two and maybe steal or destroy the third. This way we might be able to call out and get help somehow. Perhaps Louchon, or Rahim might be able to send help. But if we do steal the radio, chances are they will be combing the area for it and they will probably be on to something not right.... .That said, we might help figure out who is who. The people who don't want to be here will get upset about the lost communications. But most of the people who want to be here, might be a little bit more at peace about it. Still, I think we need to plan this. A distraction would help, or perhaps if we can cause some kind of a fuss among the locals. If we are to take out the commander's radio and the telephone system, we need to figure a way we can do it and get away with it, have someone do it for us, or at least set up a distraction."

I'll set up the distraction. I can make strange noises from afar.

Harry nods his agreement, "Okay Reynolds you seem to have thought this through, which radio would be easiest to steal? I can try, I'm fairly light on my feet and can run pretty fast if I get caught." He points to the telephone wires, "If we can get those operators out of the telephone communications building they you can throw in my dynamite and destroy it that way. We would have to move fast but that explosion should create the distraction we are looking for...hmmm Giles are you up for destroying the radio at the dig sight."

[Ash]

Ok I'm up for that.
Give me the dynamite.

Reynolds nods. "But we need to know where that wireless set is before we destroy these. I am guessing that might be the easist to get at, and perhaps I can send out a message alerting others of what is going on here, or at least drawing attention here. If you're thinking of blowing up the radio in the commander's office and the telephone lines..we can expect the others to move quickly to protect the radio. Also... Roland might see that as the signal to attack, and we'd have the Bedoiuins storm the town. That might cause a lot of bloodshed before we know what's really going on here."

[Ash]

Ok how can we find the wireless set?

Reynolds shrugs. "First we need to find it. But with everyone at the dig site involved in digging, we might be able to find it. Thing is, we need to buy time. IF they start asking about us, they will find out who we really are. Delaying them from finding out should be our main goal. If we cut the wires, the telephone operators will probably tell the commander. The commander might go to the telephone operator might go to check it out, leaving the door open for one of us to damage the radio some how. So it will require three of us, 1 to cut the wires, another to make sure Radstone leaves the room, and then a third to go in and make sure his radio malfunctions. We can't make this obvious, or they will be on to us immediately. Whether we move on the dig radio or not first... I don't know. But I would suggest that who ever cuts the telephone wire go there immediately and try to take out that radio, ideally sending a message to Cairo telling them what's going on here. Whoever cuts the wire will be the only one with a a real headstart. Its not much, but at least its something."

"I am as tempted as you to use the dynomite, but I think if we use it now, we'll get a lot of people killed and achieve little. We should use the explosive only when we are ready to call in reinforcements." Says Reynolds.

(OCC- Note- Harry, you do know the building that holds a passage down to the temple grounds benleath Giza. But only three men will not get very far in storming that fortress. Last time you had the element of surprise and even so, you couldn't get out the way you came in and it was only Natalie's help that got you out).

Ok I will head to the dig site and see if I can find the wireless set.

Reynolds nods. "That being said, perhaps Harry and I will scout out the lines. I think I can figure a place to cut them, and let Harry do it. THen I can distract Radstone while Harry takes out the wireless from the commander's office. Would be easier with three, but we can perhaps make it with two. Improvise, ya?"

[Ash]

Ok so if we can scout out the lines as three lets go

"Agreed lead on Captain, lets find those lines!" Harry follows the others, mopping his brow from the sun's intensity.

The telephone lines are not difficult to follow. They leave from the telephone exchange/police barracks building, go down an alleyway and are affixed to the brick walls of a building. They turn a corner into a side street and then turn another corner into the main thoroughfare and then follow the road back to Cairo and away from Giza and the pyramids. Down the road, they can see a stand of palm trees, about a few hundred yards past the village, but between the palms and the village, they can also see armed men on roof tops guarding the road. Further afield they can see a Beduoin walking through the palm stand, no doubt one of those that have come to assist.

The telephone line itself is not very thick. A pair of wire cutters should manage to do the job quickly. As trying to cut them on the main street or too close to the police hq would be too exposed, the alley way provides a good enough place to do the deed.

Reynolds nods, pointing up. "We could cut it here. There aren't many people about so we can do it and get away. Better if we had a look out, but there are just too few of us. We still need one of us to distract Radstone and the other to snatch at the radio in his office, or at least do something to destroy it. Thing is, it would be best if we broke the radio in the commander's house in such a way that it wasn't obvious sabotage. Actually, destroying the telephone lines might be better if we made it appear accidental and not intentional. Better not to arouse suspicions. Any thoughts?"

OCC- Harry and Giles- both of you have experience with radios. Harry has used them on his boat. Giles has used them in the field during World War 1. Can you guys come up with ways of destroying the radio and not arouse suspicions?

How about throwing a pole or long stick to connect the lines, that way they will fall onto each other and create a surge through the earth cable.

OCC-Sounds good. With regard to the wireless sight, you should think of some way to damage the internal wiring, something that appears as simple wear-and-tear or a failure to upkeep.

Possibly. You mean the wireless set? Something that might make the wiring break. The easiest thing would be wire cutters, but that would be obvious. Water on the circuits might break the device, as might damaging its antannae. Somehow damage the wire source.
