IC-Ep 3-Tempus Fugit(Everyone)

1517, Auvergne, France: The Duc d'Auvergne is hosting an elaborate gathering culminating in a masquerade ball in his palace in Vyones, to which he has invited quite a few notable people. Travelers from throughout Europe and North Africa are in attendance to see and be seen. But there are some strange unseen things lurking behind the scenes that may put everyone in danger. Can Story, Elizabeth, Brook, and others attending the party unravel the mysteries and prevent madness from reigning supreme?

This is Classic Doctor Who meets Call of Cthulhu, the sixth of a series of connected adventures set in different eras and locations that includes The Terror Out of Time, The Ninth Planet, The Shadow Over Dunwich, The Brotherhood of Death, and The Horror in the Blackout.

IC-Ep 3-Tempus Fugit(Everyone)

Post by Mr. Handy »

Duc's Palace, Great Hall - Vyones, Auvergne, France
10:15 AM - Tuesday, April 21, 1517

Henri led the large collection of guests, including Elizabeth, Jacques, Gui, Jean Luc, Bey Abdu'l, and numerous others back to the Great Hall, where they found Story and Brook.

"I have news for you, mesdemoiselles," Henri said the Story and Brook. "There has been a change in the entertainment schedule. The Galiano players will no longer be performing Le Roi en Jaune. Instead, the masquerade ball has been moved to tonight, and they will perform a different play tomorrow evening. If you would like to peruse our wide selection of costumes and masks, I'd be happy to escort you."

Elizabeth takes Story and Brook aside.
“We’ve managed to stop the ‘King in Yellow’ being performed. Father Ignacio has read it and deemed it blasphemous and the Bey persuaded Le Duc to cancel it.

However, we still think the players may attempt something else tonight so we have to thwart whatever it is today.”

”If only there was a way to find out what they are thinking…” said Gui, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

"Well, I shall take my leave for the moment, if the ladies present will excuse me. I have an appointment with a very grumpy, fighty, and large horse, and a most beautiful lady."

"I shall be back well before lunch, if anyone has need of me."

Jacques will head stable-wards.

“Hopefully he can divine Mme Bianca’s thoughts whilst out riding- I think she may be up to something too.”
Says Elizabeth watching Jaques go.
“He’s styled his hair differently this morning.”

Jacques gave L'Argot a puzzled, not to say suspicious, look but shrugged modestly. "Habits of a lifetime," he said over his shoulder as he headed out.

”I’m sure she is,” Gui said thoughtfully. ”I wonder if there’s a way to find out…”

The Bey wanted to proceed to interview Da Vinci over his life for his writings to send to Bagdad.
OOC:   I assume we are not gonna roleplay that conversation, but you know, thats kind of the Bey's objective for now.

[Keeping lowered voices]
"Sorry we are late. I stayed up reading all night! It is well that the play has been put off. It is MOST dangerous. My research suggests that whatever the good Father and Bey seem to think of it are probably more true than would be good for anyone."
"As for the players, do we have any inkling of what their motivations might be? Performing such an atrocity would only be done by either the insane or or those with the most damaging of intentions
."

"And what of this masquerade? Surely not one of those in which the identities of all guests are disguised until the end? That will surely complicate things by easily allowing even more subterfuge by whomever wished to perform such." Then Story curses to herself in frustration: "Omega's beard!"

Jean Luc(hushed tones) "From the reputation of this play and the events which follow, i can only suggest that mean to cause chaos to spread the notoriety of the accursed play. We must know what our own costumes are for tonight so we do not end up following each other. We must consider that the players may follow a cmmon theme in their disguise , a gold trim or something like it. I would suggest asking our friend what costumes they have chosen but i fear they may have brought their own."
