Grigori looks at his companions, a tad more wide-eyed than ever...

Softly he mutters...

"YES, WE'D BETTER PRESS ON..."

'On on on on on on...'

Mr. Tereshchenko's voice echoes throughout the chamber, scaring away any rodents that linger in the nooks and crannies of the cavern before you.

The flickering candle reveals piles of stones, scattered about among dark corners. Here and there are twigs, small bones and other miscellaneous detritus, no doubt brought in by the rats, and, stuffed in one alcove, a bundle of rags can be ascertained.

"I wonder what's in those rags?" says Cynthia.

Miss Knight,In the flickering light, you cannot really discern anything of note about the bundle. It could be a lng-dead corpse, or it could be a pile of rags. What is noteworthy, however is the increase in temperature of the old man's medallion around your neck. It's odd, but somehow, in this dank chamber, you find it comforting, like wearing a heavy overcoat on a cold winter's morning.
Mr. Tereshchenko and Prof. Garrett,The bundle of rags appear to be just that: mouldering cloth tossed aside into a corner. You probably wouldn't have even noticed it if the pebbles trickling from the wall above it didn't attract your attention. What is noteworthy though, is the faint glow that appears to be emanating from Miss Knight. It surrounds her whole body, although the brightest spot seems to be on her chest.

"I can't see or hear anything," whispers Cynthia, "but the medallion is getting warmer. I think we're getting close."

"Stand-back from those rags, Miss Knight... That wall appears to be unstable!"

And...

"How are you coping Miss Knight... If it's not ungentlemanly to point it out... You appear to be slightly glowing! Is that medallion having some effect on you?"

Cynthia backs away carefully. "I am well," she says. "I knew the medallion felt warmer, but I didn't know it glows too. I believe it is protecting me, and we need it to win the fight ahead."

Pebbles continue to drop from the wall, skittering along the rough floor. A fist-size hole appears at about head height.

Thankfully Miss Knight, the question of your distance from the hole is a moot one, for you easily avoid the bony, claw-like hand that suddenly lunges out of the aperture.

The three of you step back in alarm as the wall explodes, stone and dirt flying in all directions in a cloud of grave-rot stench as the hideous thing bursts out.

Even though caked in blood-red mud, it is skeletally thin. Sharp ribs can be discerned through the mouldy rags that hang off it's wiry frame. Long gangling limbs flex as it staggers towards you; it's fleshless lips leering and it's disconcertingly bright eyes glaring balefully.

Please make a 1/1d8 SAN test as the mortal remains of deLancey crouches, ready to leap.

Cynthia manages to keep her wits about her. She tries to use the candlestick with the burning candle upon it to light the rags the monstrosity wears on fire while taking care to avoid its bony claws.
