The Vanishing of Abigail Wright

The year is 1999. A group of agents with the FBI quickly discover a routine case is anything but. Thrust into a world that's as incomprehensible as it is deadly, can this team hope to hold back the darkness?

OOC:   Actually Anatomist, the search roll only needed to be done by one of you, so it still takes 3 hours. And your search roll is only a normal success, crits and fails in DG are on double normal successes or fails respectably. :)
Three hours pass as the agents begin the process of sorting through Abigail's apartment. It's tedious work; most of the stuff is pure junk. They find candy wrappers, empty containers, and broken medical equipment. None of it seems Unnatural, but all of it is decidedly unusual. What's worse is that most of the junk found has junk underneath it glued onto the wall. By then end of the first three hours they've made depressingly little progress.

They two however find two things of note. Nik locates a set of two thick paper napkins which have writing on them, likely from a ballpoint pen. They seem like hand drawn diagrams of some sort of odd mechanical creature that is not readily identifiable. The first is labeled leão, the second, escriba. The diagrams are extensively drawn out, but none of the agents can determine their exact purpose. The diagrams have gold initials in the corner labeled GBR, and both sets look rather old but well maintained despite it.
Jose,The writing is Portuguese. I'm unsure if Jose would recognize it well enough to know the translation, but if you think he would feel free to translate for the group.
Jose meanwhile finds a large map that looks to be of the Macallistar Building. Vividly drawn, it was clearly the work of some sort of artist. The floor plan is odd, however; Some closets are marked up with scrawled notes such as: “Door on 7/12,” “Roses and butter,” and “Man with briefcase and white shoes,” In addition, doors have been drawn in on the edges of the map in pen next to the roof access door, with markings such as “Mr. Castaigne,” and “The Parlor.” They seem to make little sense. The third-floor landing is marked “NIGHT FLOORS” with a big red X drawn in (and a small notation reading “dead guy in mask”).
On the third-floor landing in the back is a picture of a noose.

Nik clears a space on the floor and lays the items out to photograph them.

"What is that language?" he asks. "It looks like Portuguese to me, but I don't know for sure."

He looks over the floor plan.

"This is interesting, but to be honest I'm not getting any occult vibes from any of this stuff. Maybe the neighbours can shed more light on it. We could show it to them, and see if it provokes any reactions."

"I was thinking Spanish, but I think you're right," said Vanessa. "Let's check her mailbox first before we talk to the neighbors. There may be important information in there. Someone could have been communicating with her to set her off. Remember the case with the numbers? It could be like that."

OOC:   So is everyone planning to talk with the neighbors right now, or would anyone like to get more cataloging done?

"Why don't we finish looking through this crap first?" says Nik. "You never know. Maybe we'll find Jimmy Hoffa. The bureau would love that".

"Portuguese for sure" José replies to Nick and Vanessa. It's close enough to Spanish that i can translate it.
José reads out loud the translation

Jose heads off to Abigail's mailbox. He finds most of the contents to be junk; ads for local shops or restaurants. But there are a few bills that she never opened. The mail here dates back to mid August, suggesting she had not checked her mailbox for at least half a month. Was she missing that long?
OOC:   I presume Jose wants to go back to the apartment now, since the trip to the mailbox will not take 2 hours. :D If so, go ahead and roll search since the others failed.

And everyone, just for fun please give me a San roll.

Vanessa's mind is able to handle all of this stuff. She just finds it boring.

Nik has been attempting to remain serene, but is becoming frustrated.

"Why the hell does she have so much crap!" he shouts suddenly.

OOC:   Anatomist, I believe you still need to make a san roll. And Honey Dog, you can make a search roll if you've not already since the others failed.

Jose returns and reports on what he found, then assists the other agents in doing a little more cataloging.

The work remains tedious, and they spend the next two hours performing the slow process of taking junk down from the walls and identifying it. To the agents frustration, by the time two more hours have passed they've found nothing useful or even all that interesting. It all seems like standard trash-- nothing even as interesting as the diagrams or map of the building.

It's around 6 in the evening now. The agents are getting hungry, and after 5 hours of tedium tired as well. They could call it a night and head home, or they could pass for a brief break and get back to work if they wished to pull an all nighter.
Nik,Near the end of his cataloging, Nik suddenly senses eyes on him coming from the other side of the room. If he turns around however, no one is there. Try as he might to dismiss the occurrence, he can't shake the fact that someone is inside the room and watching him. He cannot pin down the location of the feeling; it seems to almost be coming from the entire room. Neither of his partners seem to notice, and after a few minutes the odd feeling passes. But it's still leaves him a bit shaken. Take 1 san loss for Helplessness, please.

Nik is feeling increasingly uncomfortable in the room. He suppresses a shiver.

“Let’s call it a night, huh? I can barely register any of this junk anymore. We can meet back here in the morning.”
