The Dance In The Blood - Trail Of Cthulhu

Post by Abdul Alhazred »

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, particularly those like me who are fortunate enough to live in the fair isle of Albion, the days are now drawing in. With the first real autumnal rain lashing at my windows my thoughts turn darker too. As such, using the 'Trail of Cthulhu' rules I'm aiming to start a PBP game of The Dance In The Blood very soon.

The game is set in the north of England in the 1930s, and the character positions that need filling are:
  • Rosa Parker - a spinster dealer in antiques.
Dr Michael Laws - a hospital consultant.
Tom (Jonesy) - a gentleman tramp.
Viscount Hilary Dexter - a renowned socialite and dabbler.
Helen Long - a surrealist artist.
I'm therefore looking looking for five erudite and stalwart players to join the game. I'd prefer if you have previous form - i.e. have played in a PBP Cthulhu game previously - if only because I'm only too aware that many games suffer from drop-outs. Having played in this manner before it's less likely that you'll disappear leaving the game in limbo until a replacement is found. That said, we were all novices once and I'm keen to have a Cthulhu newbie or two on board too. In return, I'll do my utmost to give you a game worth participating in.

So, if you're interested, let me know!

I'd be up for it, Even if only to get more experience of ToC.

I've never played ToC before, but I'm keen on learning!
I'm quite active on here, so limited drop-out potential.

Thanks to Priest and Dr Peterson for the quick responses, you'll be first in line when the game gets underway. Between you, you certainly fit the experienced poster requirement!

Without divulging any of the storyline, I should perhaps have added in my original post that this ToC scenario is a dark one and very firmly in the Cthulhu 'purist' as opposed to 'pulp' category. Insanity is probable rather than possible!

Three more slots are available, the fun will commence as soon as all are filled.

I´d like to throw my hat in the ring as well. If I may?
I have been reading up on Dead White World for ToC, but no rules specificially.

Cheers!

Hello,
I would also like to join the adventure. I've played and kept CoC games in the past. I do have VERY limited experience with ToC, I at least have the PDF. ;-)
Additionally, I have played in several PBP games on RPOL.com. If there is room for me in your game, please let me know.

From your outline "Tom (Jonesy) - a gentleman tramp", sounds like a fun character to play. I do have time to play and could post once a day, with the exception of major holidays and vacations.

Regards, bzr101

Thanks for the offer Syrinx, PM sent. As soon as the forum is set up I'll post some more details about the campaign and characters available.

I've also added you to the list of players, just two more required. :)

Then, it´s your work ahead of you. The area was successfully conjured without too many souls lost.
Just ask and you´ll be assisted should there be need of any help.

Hello everybody, I'm Fabio Silva from Brazil. I'm a big fan of Trail of Cthulhu and although I was not totally familiar with the PBP style of roleplay, I would like to participate, if possible. Sorry for my english, I'm trying to get better.

We're almost there, with just one character slot left to fill - our female antiquarian, Rosa Parker.

The cast list as it stands is as follows:

Priest - Helen Long
DrPeterson - Viscount Hilary Exeter
Syrinx - Dr Michael Laws
bzr101 - Jonesy
Fabio - TBC
TBC - Rosa Parker

Stats for each character except Fabio's have now been posted in the game forum, along with the scenario opening 'scene set'.

I can now confirm Fabio will be playing Visconde Pedro de Finado, a 30-something Portuguese aristocrat and long-time friend of Viscount Exeter.

I still have one vacancy, for Rosa Parker, and I'd really like to fill it before we begin. I'll give it a few more days to see if we can sign up the final player but if necessary I'll run Rosa as a (lame duck) NPC in order to get underway.

Thanks for hanging in there people! :)

I'd be interested in playing Rosa, if she's still available?

I've played ToC before (see Find Him, Please - I played Delores under a different login) although didn't really understand the system...

Cheers,

Phil.
