Syrinx - Grimey looks set to go (I'm also quite a novice where ToC is concerned!) I'm sure I've seen that episode of his backstory (I forget which crime drama its actually from - I get mixed up from Hannibal to Richard Castle and from Criminal Minds to the CSI family!).

Priest - Given your background snippet, would 'Bad Luck' be an appropriate drive for Millicent?

Try Vikings "Red Eagle", Hannibal - for sure, and a mix of Criminal Minds and CSI. I think you just outed me as a crime nerd!

Hal,
Yes I suppose Bad Luck will work. I was having difficulty with Drives, I went with Arrogance because it was the only one I could fit to Millicent, but Bad Luck is probably better (Gives her something to blame). Roll playing it will be a chalenge but I'll give it a go.

Sorry priest missed that drive on your sheet and thought you'd missed it off - arrogance it is and might be easier to roleplay like you say :)

The forum is beginning to take shape now.

I think I miscounted my General Abilities and only spent 64 of my 65 points. If that's the case, I'd like to put the extra point in Preparedness.

Is ToC different mechanically from classic CoC? I've just familiarized myself with CoC v.6. I'm all about a new classic era game, but I was hoping to get some actual experience with the regular CoC game system.

Sorry about the delay, I found the condensed rules PDF hard going and quite confusing, the layout is dreadful! I am sure my sanity has been eroded by wading through that dread document.

Sam Reed, 52 (slightly dodgy) Antiques Dealer (Antiquarian)

Credit Rating 4 [2 base +2]

Yes ToC is (as Lee's above post just alluded to) very different to 6th edition CoC and unfortunately I've just filled the last available slot so my apologies there, sorry.

Lee that looks fine from first glance :) Any picture / short background you want?

Lee - Actually on closer inspection now I'm in front of a computer not my phone it appears that yours maths has gone awry somewhere - you should have 65 points on general abilities and 15 points on investigative abilities. Any investigator 'occupation' skill you get a half price - so if you only picked from the occupation pool of skills you effectively have 32 points to spend. For skills outside your occupation they are one-for-one.

You appear to have:

Interpersonal Abilities - 14 points
Assess Honesty 6
***Bargain 7
Credit Rating 4 [2 base +2]
Streetwise 2

Academic Abilities - 15 points
***Architecture 3
***Art History 5
***History 7
***Languages 4 [English, French, German, Latin, Greek (Ancient)] (last 2 being reading skills, predominantly)
***Law 5
***Library Use 8
***Personal specialty - Occult 2

Technical Abilities - 3 points
Locksmith 3

Investigative Abilities - 32 points / 16 points (occupation skills which are *** effectively only cost 1/2 point and left over 1/2s are lost)

General Abilities - 28 points / 65 points
Preparedness 5
Sense Trouble 3
Sanity 7 [base 4 +3]
Stability 10 [base 1 +9]
Health 9 [base 1 + 8]

Sorry about that.
