I'm going to be away until the 30th. (I figure my latest post makes it pretty clear how William intends to treat with this feathered serpent - other than that, decide his actions as you see fit).

And have a good Midwinter everyone.

It's time for me to take a break in 2020. I'm completely burned out, can barely type a sentence anymore. My character will return home on some business. Maybe in future things will settle and I'll have the energy to start again but for now I need to step back. Sorry.

Totally understand - I've had to cut back on the number of games I'm in myself. Hope all goes well in 2020!

Hey Victoria, out of interest (and because I feel the final showdown with the Fae Lady is nigh), when do our characters level up?

Good question. I actually have not been paying any attention to this question at all, just winging it off the top of my head (as I am sure you can tell.)

Tell you what. Just before the big battle to come -- I guess that's not a spoiler, is it? -- we'll deal with this. How about if it takes place during a "rest" period after the characters deal with the iron barrier and whatever else they want to do about getting ready. Probably a new "chapter."

Fair enough?

Lepus (Gypsy/Magician classes): Add 1d4 to Hit Dice, add a Spell of Level Two (or two of Level One), 1 to Damage Bonus
+1 Charisma = 12
Hit dice - [dice]0[/dice] up to 10
New spells - Detect Evil (level 1), Unseen Servant (level 1)
Damage bonus 1

I just realized looking at the rules that I wouldn't have been able to create the Regenerator (Cure Serious Wounds) when I made level 5, as it's a level 4 Mad Invention, and I wouldn't be able to create it until I'm level 7, so I'll reshuffle my Mad Inventions. I can, however, make a level 3 Mad Invention if I cannibalize one of my level 1 devices. My new Mad Invention is the Force Projector, which has the Elf Strokeeffect. It is in the form of a small rod that, when pointed at a target and activated, generates a field of electromagnetic force that strikes the target and scrambles its brain. I have the option of recruiting a new Monstrous Servant instead of making a new Mad Invention, but I have a level 5 Monstrous Servant in mind, and I won't have enough levels to recruit it and still keep Ivan until I get to level 7, and I'm just reaching level 6. I'll increase my Dexterity this time, which takes it to 11. My Intelligence was 16 already, as I'd raised it at every previous level.

List of Mad Inventions:
Cauteriser (Close Wounds, 1)
Illuminator (Light, 1)
Lesser Regenerator (Cure Light Wounds, 2)
Force Projector (Elf Stroke, 2)

New hit point total:
[dice]0[/dice]
My Damage Bonus (which I'd forgotten I even have) is now +2.

William, level 2:

I'm torn between incresing Dexterity (he's been back in the fray) or Wisdom (he's been exposed to the preternatural world). I'll make up my mind soon.

Hit points: Rolled D6, got a 5.

Damage bonus is now +1.

I changed my mind about which Mad Invention I was going to invent. It's more important to have offensive firepower that would be effective against the fae (presuming she has a brain) or her minions than a defense that only protects me, so I edited my post above. I'm going with Elf Stroke.

This eve, I am stricken with signs of the covid plague, and must sequester myself away from others. It is not my intent to end my participation here - I merely relate the news so that should I become absent a reason will be apparent.
