IC-Ep 4-Last Dance(Everyone else)

Post by Mr. Handy »

Docking Bay - Styx Base, Pluto
0850 GMT - Tuesday, August 9, 2112

The four remaining Mi-Go watched the humans in the docking bay carefully.

"Let's get the last of these supplies and the colonel's body aboard Charon's Ferry and make our final preparations for takeoff," said Major Natalia Orlova. "We need to be ready to leave as soon as Sergeant Kohl gets back."

Captain Juliette Desjardins started up the Demeter as everyone backed away from it. Charon's Ferry's dock that would hold the small craft during the long voyage back to Earth was already open and waiting for her.

Lt. Hu Xiang, Lt. Edward Barrett, Private Sofia Torres, Private George Bond, Lt. Colleen Rose, Private Alison Silver, and Private Robert MacCrimmon were also present in the docking bay.
OOC,Juliette, please roll Pilot Space Fighter at double your skill to dock with Charon's Ferry. This means you will only fail on a 100.

Not as smooth as normally, but steady and secure nonetheless Juliette docked the Demeter aboard the Charon. Making sure she would be easy to take out in an emergency. All part of protocol, but it felt much more important this time.

Juliette docked the Demeter securely in the fighter bay while the others loaded the rest of the supplies, including the fire extinguishers, aboard Charon's Ferry. Natalia made her way to the bridge and began performing systems checks. While they were doing that, the Persephone lifted off and flew out through the open dome, vanishing into the sky.

Alison watched the Mi-Go suspiciously and watched the Persephone fly off. "This is ridiculous. Why should we get kicked off the planet? It's not like we are even doing anything harmful here." She mumbles to herself.

After Captain Desjardins docks the Persephone, Lt. Edward Barrett deliberately begins to load the remaining cargo into Charon's Ferry, taking care to leave the grav-cart full of fungicide conveniently near the loading ramp for last. He keeps an wary eye on the Mi-Go, sure that at any moment that damned buzzing will begin again. He is also casting furtive glances at the rest of the crew; if anyone does anything sudden, Edward is ready.

Private George Bond assisted Edward with loading the cargo. It went uneventfully enough, and before too long they had loaded everything but the cart with the fungicides. Sergeant Kohl had still not returned, but it seemed like he should have by this time.

Lt. Edward Barrett pauses at the gravcart containing the fungicide and rests one hand on a small tank. He wrinkles his forehead slightly in concern and looks at Private Bond, "Sergeant Kohl is running a bit late, don't you think?"

"Yeah, I hope nothing's gone wrong," said George, nervously eyeing the Mi-Go. "Do you think we should try to contact him, sir?"

OOC,Yes, all members of the crew have them. There are also communicators built into the spacesuits that you're all wearing.

Lt. Edward Barrett activates his comm and tersely says, "Sergeant Kohl, this is Barrett. How fares the escort?" He holds his breath in expectation.

"Zzztop!" commanded one of the Mi-Go, as all four pointed their weapons in unison at the humans gathered outside the airlock to Charon's Ferry. "Treachery! Our leader izzz attacked!"
Edward Barrett,Sergeant Kohl answered on Edward's private channel. "Story killed the Mi-Go when it insisted on boarding his vessel, sir. The fungicides work! Watch out for the ones in the docking bay. I'm on my way back."

OOC,Where is Alison in relation to the other humans, the Mi-Go and the fungicides?
"Put the gun down! We don't know anything about your leader getting attacked and if we planned it, don't you think we would have gone to a safer place than right in front of you?" Alison draws her own gun and levels it at the Mi-Go and nods to Robert. She didn't want to fight them, but as the only security forces present she had an obligation to protect the crew.

OOC,Alison and the other humans are all next to the cart with the fungicide, right outside the airlock. The exceptions are Major Natalia Orlova and Captain Juliette Desjardins, who are both aboard the ship and do not yet know what is happening. The Mi-Go are some distance away across the docking bay, approximately ten yards. To use the fungicide on them, someone would need to get closer. There are two fire extinguishers and one smaller aerosol spray.

Hu draws his own blaster (assumed to be accessible whilst donning the suit) and back toward the pallet. His eyes scan for better places to duck behind should the bugs start firing.

Upon hearing Sgt. Kohl's report, Lt. Barrett's eyes widen slightly. Under his breath, he mutters to Pvt. Bond, "Our human guests have apparently killed their alien escort. Be ready to move onto the Ferry. I'll try to buy the rest of you a little time." Moving to put Pvt. Bond between the aliens line of sight and himself, he attempts to surreptitiously secret the small aerosol can of fungicide on his person.

Hu's head hung a moment. Still looking for a place to duck to cover, Hu keeps his blaster ready. "What the tian xiao'de is going on? We had nothing to do with that!" he shouts to the bugs.

When people started drawing their weapons, the Mi-Go immediately opened fire! One of them had lightning reflexes and pointed its little knob-like weapon at Alison. A sparkling blue beam shot out of it and streaked off into the sky, missing her by a wide margin. Another one shot a similar beam at Robert an instant later, but it merely scored the floor near his feet.

One of the Mi-Go with a cluster of tubes pointed the bizarre device at the gathered humans. causing a cone of thick white fog to spew out of the longest tube towards them, but it passed well to one side of them. The fourth Mi-Go with its own similar weapon fired it, and the fog rolled right towards them!
OOC,Each of you may attempt a Dodge roll to try to get out of the way of the fog. If you do this, you will not be able to attack this round whether you succeed at the Dodge roll or not. You may take a different action, but you may not attack. Or you may choose to let the fog hit you and suffer the consequences, whatever they are. If you choose not to Dodge, you may make one attack with the weapon you were grabbing. Even though some weapons allow multiple attacks per round, you did not have them ready when the round started, so you only get a single attack this round. Next round (if you survive) you'll be able to get all of your attacks. For firearms, the range is normal, so just use your unmodified skill. If you want to attack with the fungicide spray, you'll need to make both a Luck and a DEX x 5 roll. It will only work from a handful of feet away, so you'll need to rush at the Mi-Go (through the fog) to do this. If the fog incapacitates you, your attack will be negated. Please indicate which Mi-Go you are attacking (the first or second one with the energy weapons, or the first or second one with the fog weapons). I'll post actions for the NPCs.
Juliette Desjardins,Juliette heard Major Orlova's panicked voice on her communicator: "Captain, I need you on the bridge at once! I'm detecting energy weapons fire from the docking bay, and we need to be ready to take off at a moment's notice!"

"Bien Sur! J'arrive." Juliette made a run for the bridge. "Have you hailed the General? " She asked as she ran.

Hu tries to jump out of the way, but the fog spreads out too much and hits him as he tries to get behind cover.
