IC-SWORD-Ranger Danger(Everyone but Lara)

Darkness now shrouds the zombie-infested land. At Warren Air Force Base, various survivors and USAF personnel try to hold out against the hordes, but will internal division tear them apart? In western Nebraska, most of the captive women have found their freedom thanks to the rangers' intervention, but two of their captors have gotten away with one of them as a hostage. Can they escape from a new horror and find a way to rescue her? And in Omaha, though the zombies are no longer a threat, danger still abounds. A large group of survivors has holed up in a school, but a band of violent juvenile delinquents, a drug-dealing gang, and others may prove a greater peril than the dead. Who will suvive the night, and who will never see the sun rise again?

OOC,Whoops, I meant handcar, not handcart. It has a flat bed, with no railing or anything surrounding it. I've edited my post above to fix it.
In the warehouse-
Dan used the crane's powerful electromagnet to pick up one of the shipping containers and move it over to the front door. He then lowered it into place, crushing the smaller crate he had used to block the door temporarily. Raquel slid into the chair behind the desk and leaned back, exhausted. Dan slumped down to the floor.

In the tunnel-
Katarina also climbed onto the handcar. She wasn't strong enough to pump the handles, but she was able to support Sally while she and Zoe worked them. The flatbed began to roll down the tunnel. It wasn't very fast, but it was faster than they could have walked. They passed more light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, spaced at intervals of about a hundred feet apart. Several minutes later, the end of the tunnel was in sight. The tracks terminated at a stopper, and beyond that was a blank wall. Of course, this tunnel hadn't been constructed just to lead to a dead end. Beside the wall was a large railway switch set into the ground.

In the tunnel-
The switch was a lever in a semicircular housing jutting out of the ground. It looked to Zoe like a standard railway switch of the sort used to switch tracks. However, the tracks down here were a single unbroken line, and there was no other track to which to switch. The switch had to be for something else.

Zoe explains what she discovers regarding the switch.

"There must be another track or an exit."

She has a look round....

"Hmm.." Sally said quizically. "Or perhaps it does something else on the other end of the tracks?"

In the tunnel-
Katarina took a look around. "This wall," she said, pointing at the blank wall at the end of the tunnel, "is really door! This switch must open it."

In the tunnel-
"Thanks, Sally," said Katarina.

There was no point in getting back onto the handcar, as the tracks ended at the stopper. When Sally pulled the switch, the blank wall at the end of the tunnel swung outward on concealed hinges. On the other side was a dark room, though the light from the bulbs in the tunnel ceiling made it possible to see within. It appeared to be a storage room, with crates on metal shelves. These crates were olive green with white letters and numbers stenciled on them. On the wall opposite the hidden tunnel entrance there was a closed metal door. Light came from underneath it.

"Looks like the end of the line" Sally said with a laugh. "The shortest ride ever, eh, ladies?" Sally got off of the handcar and approached the crates on the shelves. She inspected the writing on the crates.

In the storeroom-
Julie and Katarina followed the others into the storeroom. Sally and Zoe examined the crates, which were nailed shut. The lettering stenciled on them said that they were property of the United States Air Force. Some of them stated that they contained standard military-issue boots of various sizes. Others, according to the writing, held belts and backpacks.

Katarina tried the door, but it didn't budge. "Is locked," she said.

"Hmm," Sally said quizically. "See if you can pick the lock while I keep checking out these crates." Sally continued to poke around the crates.

OOC,Zoe, roll Locksmith if you want to try to pick the lock. Sally, all of the crates say they hold either boots, belts, or backpacks. Roll STR x 5 if you want to try to pry open a crate.

In the storeroom-
Zoe was able to pick the lock in practically no time. The door was now unlocked.

"I has knife you could borrow," Katarina said to Sally, "but these things don't belong to us. Is stealing."

"Yes," Sally said, agreeing to Katarina, "it would be stealing. I'd hate to upset the military personel on the other side of this passage by appearing before them with stolen military property on our persons."

Zoe-

"I suppose so. But stealing boots seems pretty insignificant compared to all the zombie shit...."

Zoe opens the door and peers round it.
