The Hunt for Kalituk (Faroo, Kirima, Kinaktok)

Mannitok looks to the smoke in the sky.

But...

He then nods and agrees.

I'm sick of all this madness too brother. Let us return home and find ourselves a nice fat woman to curl up with.

Either way, the captive Viking Oddlog seems happy that the two Dorset Hunters are turning away from the sea.

He smiles before curling up with the supplies on the last remaining sled.

The travel is slow, but the Hunters finally arrive back at their village before the days end. The night sky is clear and the landscape is lit by the brightness of the full moon. Few Dorset figures walk the paths between the hutts. All of the dogs have been brought inside whcih is very strange and certainly out of character for the tribe.

Faroo and Mannitok are surprised to see the village so quiet; even during the full moon, when women tend to stay indoors for fear of angering the moon god Aningan. No fires are lit, save one.... and that can only be seen from within the village. The Shaman's Hutt fire burns brightly.

There also seems to be some activity in the Elder's Hutt as low murmers can be heard from where Faroo and Mannitok stand beside their sled and the now slumbering Oddlog.

[Ash]

Come on let's report to the elders hut. They will be interested in our story.

[DSIGFUSS]

What should we do with him?

Mannitok glances at Oddlog.

[Ash]

He's coming with us.

Come on.

Faroo makes for the elders hut dragging the Viking with him.

[DSIGFUSS]

Oddlog doesn't resist and follows Faroo and Mannitok happily, smiling a dumbfounded grin the entire way.

Mannitok parts the flap leading into the Elder's hut and is surprised to see his Sister sitting on a polar bear rug in front off the Elders. Their parents are watching, seated along the side of the Hutt. Faroo hears Sashila's last comment before he interrupts.



The Black Wolf did nothing.... I do not remember what happened at the Weasel River Elder Pamiruq...

Sashila bows her head shamefully.

Elder Pamiruq looks to Faroo and his eyes widen as he spots the Viking lumbering behind the Dorset Hunters.



What is the meaning of this Faroo?

THE ENCOUNTER,IN short... Sashila ran off in search of her love interest Tornuaq. Unulaq and Faroo went after her and found her floating on a kayak in a semi comatose state on the weasel river. (The river was flowing backwards up and into the mountains btw) They could not get her attention until Unulaq hit her in the head with a snowball. Sashilla fell into the freezing water and Unulaq dove in to rescue her. He dragged her out and then the two started making out in their crazed delirium. Faroo got to watch the whole thing as they both quickly lost control of themselves and started having extremely rough and animalistic sex right in front of Faroo. Sashila was calling out Tornuaq’s name the entire time. (Not Unulaq) After Unulaq and Faroo saw the black wolf on the river’s edge. Faroo promised Sashila and Unulaq that he would not say anything as they were both shamed by the event. Unulaq for seemingly raping Sashila and Sashila for going along with it when she was in love with Tornuaq. By the way they went at each other, Faroo is suspicious that something very strange was going on.

[Ash]

We have looked for the Cheif but have found nothing but Zombie Vikings and this one sane one we have brought back.
Also we have learnt tell of a dangerous witch by the name of Melkorka.
We have failed you.

[DSIGFUSS]

Elder Pamiruq nods..

You are too hard on yourself boy. Kalituk is a wisened hunter. It was not likely you could find him if meant not to be found. He has turned his back on his people. We must move forward in this time of...

The Elders' eyes then turn to the Viking standing behnd him.

You bring another pale face into our village? I am glad, however that this one is bound ansd submissive. For what purpose do you bring your prisoner here before the council Faroo?

Faroo then spots Qannaq( His mentor) in the back of the hut. He frowns at Faroo and his attention then turns back to Sashila.

[Ash]

Well, to be honest, I was unsure of whether we should keep him bound or not. Where can I put him. I can build a sepearate igloo for him or put him to work.

[DSIGFUSS]

The Elder shakes his head.

No Faroo... Leave him here. Fetch the boy.. Torngusak.. He seemed to have taken a liking to you if I recall. He will translate what this smelly brute has to say. We must learn more of these Norseman's plans.

Qannaq quickly takes the opportunity and steps forward from the back of the Elders Hut.



I will accompany you brother...

As Qannaq leads Faroo out of the Elders Hutt to retrieve the Thule boy Torngusak, he puts a caring hand on his students shoulder.

The Elders are working to replace Chief Kalituk.

Qannaq laughs..

ooc,Qannaq id Faroo's mentor. He is the closest friend Faroo has in the Dorset tribe.

[Ash]

Oh great, I mean, I can do it..... It's just a whole load of responsibility.

[DSIGFUSS]

Qannaq laughs... I imagine you could young one.. But you will need to hunt a great white bear before you can pick up the white spear and claim the right to rule the tribe. The Elders would support you if you wished to try such a thing. Unulaq is their first choice, but his friendship with the Norseman and his ties to Tornuaq make the Elders suspicious. Arrluk is their third choice. He has killed a polar bear but they fear he lost too much when he fell in the river so many ago.

[Ash]

I see. Faroo thinks deeply. Lost in meditation.

[Ash]

Finally they find the child and bring him back to the elders hut. He translates the Vikings speech fo them.

[DSIGFUSS]

Faroo and Qannaq find the Thule boy Tongusak with an elderly Dorset Couple. He spots Faroo and smiles running to his side, obviously thankful for a familiar face. His pet fox, sleeping by the dim light of the weakened fire, opens a tired eye. (Bright fires were doused so as not to give away their location to the Vikings)

Oh thank the godess! Faroo! Is everything OK? Where is Yuralria. She promissed she would never leave me.

ooc- Spot Hidden

[Ash]

Faroo sits down and asks anyone if they have some tobacco for his pipe.
He huddles close to the fire.

[DSIGFUSS]

ooc - You are not yet in the Elder's hut but the Dorset Hunter assigned to care for Torngusac has some tobacco and offers it up to Faroo. Qannaq also packs his own ivory pipe and waits patiently.

Faroo spots something very strange. The fox that Torngusac has been keeping as his pet looks momentarily at Faroo before quickly turning away. Faroo swears that the creatures eyes are red and that can mean only one thing. The Thule boy's pet fox is an Ijiraat.

[Ash]

What's happening with your foxes eyes youngling? They glow.

[Ash]

Faroo smokes his pipe and waits for the boy to answer.

[DSIGFUSS]

Torngusac smiles down at his pet fox and pats it on the head.

The Fox's red eyes meets stare into Faroo with an intensity beyond its years and then darts out of the tent.

Torngusac is startled by the sudden movement and reaches out for him.



Kadzit! No! Faroo is our friend.
