1920's Hollywood *updated*
I'm going to run a 20's Hollywood game; stars, studio moguls, scandals (and cover-ups), decadence, glamour, murder, cultists, monsters. A studio mogul's daughter has been kidnapped, and he's paying you to find her. Past the surface glamour and tinsel, you'll uncover a world of illicit affairs, drugs, occultism, and madness. I'm using the standard 1d100 rules.
This is the Beyond the Edges scenario from the San Franscico sourcebook, relocated in Los Angeles, so if you already know it, you won't want to play this! If you are not a regular on this site, please make sure your account settings allow notification by email, so you'll know if I try to contact you.
*The game is full for now, but you can still let me know if you'd be interested in the future, just in case!*

Hello.
I'm interested in your game. It's been a few years since I've participated in a PBEM but I'm looking to back into it. CoC has always been my favourite system and the idea of Hollywood is intriguing.
I look forward to hearing further details.
Cheers.
Ben.

Re: 1920's Hollywood
Probably anyone working an any capacity for the movie industry...the way it was in those days, a wide variety of professions could be in studio employ (doctors, psychiatrists, detectives, and lawyers pop into my mind). But really, I could probably work in anything you wanted to play.paradys wrote:hi jenny

I was just looking over the source book last night and thinking that a new arrival attempting to become a star would be a great deal of fun!paradys wrote:bagsy the young starlet newly arrived in hollywood.

Re: 1920's Hollywood
Hi. I'm a Cthulu newbie, but I'd really like to join in the game. I've ordered the 6th ed. rules, so I should be OK.
Would it be played by e-mail, or on the forum, or on a chatroom or what? I've only ever played RPGs face to face, so I'm not really sure how it works online.
P.S. could I be a money-grabbing lawyer?

It would be on the forum--check out some game threads on here and you'll see how it works. Just a back-and-forth of keeper and player posts, doing basically the same sort of things you do in a tabletop game. Don't worry--you don't need to know the rules well to be a player--I'll take care of most of it, and let you know anything else when it comes up. What matters more is just a vivid character that you're able to portray well in writing.
And yes, a money-grabbing lawyer would be fine!

Re: 1920's Hollywood
I'm gonna play a guy for a change, just to shake up the powers that be.
Someone pompous, self involved, and entirely too big of a flirt. Perhaps a bar owner.

Re: 1920's Hollywood
Hi there,
the idea sounds good, I ran a couple of 20s Hollywood p&p one-offs some time ago and had a real laugh!
If there`s any more space I`d love to have a go at an honest-to-goodness Gumshoe!

Re: 1920's Hollywood
Sure! The only thing is, have you already played The Blackness Beneath from the Los Angeles sourcebook? I was thinking of expanding upon that scenario and running it, but if you've played it, I could do something else.mikc wrote:Hi there,

No, haven`t seen either source book, I played a few self-written games set in Hollywood.

When are you planning to get this game going, Jenny? (Not that I'm in any kind of rush....just wondering )

Re: 1920's Hollywood *updated*
is this going to be set in the era of silent films? if so, my actress is going to be moody and czechoslavakian with a heavy accent - star of german expressionist classic The Twisted Staircase (or something like that).
