To the Manor borne… (everyone)

A brutal murder has taken place in the small Highland village of Strathmorn. The accused claims that the ghosts from a local haunted manor are to blame!

Piqued by the alleged supernatural angle to the case, renowned Psychical Researcher, Harry Price, is seeking a team of responsible persons ‘of leisure and intelligence, intrepid, critical and unbiased’ to investigate the haunting.

Doesn’t that just sound like the sort of thing you’ve been looking for?

Moving the blanket from the body, Dr Douglas could see the rather desiccated corpse of an adult man. He was of about average height, with grey hair and about two week’s growth of beard, with the deeply tanned skin of a man who spent a lot of time outdoors. There were no signs of violence that may have lead to his death.

Dr. D’s a medical man so he’s seen dead bodies before (likewise Father Ó Shaban) but anyone else should make a SAN roll if they take a closer look.

Lose one point of SAN if you fail.

" Intial examination shows no signs of trauma." DrDouglas carefully turns the body to examine the rear.

From his hair colour and general appearance, you would say that the man was probably somewhere upwards of 40, but his desiccated condition doesn’t allow you to be sure.

As for how long he has been here, most like many decades.

Father Ó Shaban observed the body with quiet curiosity.

"English comrrades, is ze tradition of ze english and scottish to leave corpses arround? Zis house is so fill of corpses, zis place appears as ze cementery."

While commenting this the priest was cheaking the furniture than Hamish has pushed, maybe it could have something relevant.

There are no signs of violence so the man died of natural causes as far as Dr D can tell.

Give me an IDEA/KNOW roll if you want to speculate further.

Ascot joins Shaban in having a poke around the room.

"Actually, I'm British Rhodesian, but generally, Father, dead people go in the ground even in Scotland, is my understanding. Although this is my first time here too."

"Back home, we get the odd dead person chewed on by lion or tiger, or killed by a hundred other nasties. But they're all pretty fresh and get cremated or buried in short order. I've never seen so many old human bones in one place in my life before."

He pauses mid-search for a second. "Except Paris. There are an awful lot of old bones in the catacombs under Paris. I went on a tour of the catacombs once, just after the War. I don't think that helps us here, though."

"Oh, aye," says Bonnie. "We bury our dead too. But this man died alone and trapped in here, so nobody found him before now. Perhaps we should search him. He may have something on him that would identify him."

What was he wearing? Can we tell what era his clothes were from based on the style?

The man had a nondescript silver ring on one of the fingers of his right hand but no other jewellery. Examining the body more closely, Dr Douglas found some rather crudely done tattoos on his arms, mainly with a nautical theme.

Most of the furniture had been broken up to bar the door so it gave no clue as to the identity of the late occupant of the room.

History roll, please.

Ascot checked the staircases but this was indeed the top floor.

Bonnie was unable to determine how old the clothes were, but if pressed, she’d describe them as ‘old-fashioned’.

Ascot seizes the moment to use his new binoculars and peer out from the various top floor balconies and 'windows', still looking for his suspected wild cats. "Where are you hiding, kitty?"

Are there any tracks to be seen coming in through the battlements?

"Aye, let's go downstairs," says Bonnie. "If there's a basement, we should check it next. He must have been behind that door for a long time. He may have been there over a century. His clothes did look old-fahsioned."
