Jan ties in behind Alex, she looks back at June.
“Are you staying up here?” She asks her as she starts to walk down the steps.

"Oh, I'm coming," June says. She's happy to go either last, or in front of Jan if Jan wants to go last.

Crowley:

Crowley periodically shines a flashlight at the wall, trying to estimate its age or what civilisation built it.

"Now this is a mystery worth the trip."

"Something's coming up!" June exclaims. "I can't make it out, it looks like a pile of ink."

Jan stops immediately and peers over the edge. She swings her rifle over her shoulder and readies a round, pointing the gun down the hole.
“Ink? INK? What are you talking about, June?” She asks nervously.

Hearing June, Butch will stop and take out his gasoline blowtorch and light it.

"Is there something there or just a deeper darkness?" He calls back as he tries to see what she is talking about.

Hearing June's shout, Alex shines his flashlight down the shaft into the gloom. 'What can you see?'

Crowley:

Crowley has his trusty Webley in his right hand and a flashlight in his left.

"I didn't think it would stay peaceful for long."

[Mr. Handy]

Harry also has his revolver and flashlight out and peers into the darkness, though he isn't sure shooting at ink will do any good.

"I can't see any shape - it's like it's fluid." She tries to point out the place as best she can.

“Water maybe?” Jan tries to see below too.

Jane sees a shadow figure that is climbing the stairs. Well, not a figure, more like a huge black pool of solid liquid, maybe a bit bigger than a human being, with lots of tiny legs. It has no eyes or mouth.

OOC: June and Jan: make a sanity roll: if you fail, loose 1d10. if you pass, loose 1 point.

“Oh my god, it’s, it’s... coming!” Almost as a nervous reaction, Jan’s trigger finger moves on her rifle straight pointing down the hole towards the ink.

As if someone else seeing the thing has opened a door in her mind, June's reaction tips from confused shock into outright terror. "No! It's real, it's coming after us, we have to get out of here!" She makes to flee, tugging at the rope binding her to everyone.

"Back to the surface!" calls Harry, retreating as soon as those above him do, recognizing that discretion is the better part of valor.

Butch will back up the stairs in time with the others, keeping his blowtorch pointed down the stairs.

"It must be the guardian of this place, but what is it? What do you see?"

Although he can't see anything in the darknes, the reaction of the others is enough for Alex and he struggles back up the steps. 'The guardian is supposed to be afraid of the light, get back into the sunlight.'

He pulls out his machete, unsure if he'll need to cut himself free from the rope.
