Anna returned to the others and saw that Story, Elizabeth, and Brook had also rejoined them.

“Good morning, Dr Jerkins. I’m glad to see you all survived the night. Although it may become a case of the frying pan and the fire.” Says Phyllis.

“Fire being the operative word. We’re off to Charlie’s shop to pick up some stuff,” explains Eugene. “We can get lots of flashlights, torches, matches and such.”

[Mephistophilis]

'Good morning' says Anna. 'I've arranged for Eugene's release. Do we have a plan?'

“I’m not quite sure of it myself but Mr Story here has hatched a plan I think. To tackle the bat in the warehouse for once and for all.”
Says Phyllis.

[Mr. Handy]

"Yes," said Story. "We were able to borrow the Dagger of Thoth from the British Museum. It has power over Nyarlathotep in all his forms, including that of the Father of All Bats. However, it carries a curse of madness for whoever wields it. That may explain why Professor Exeter acted the way he did, but I don't know what his wife's excuse was. We have it in its carrying case for now. None of us seems to be any good with a knife anyway. We also have sources of light, which are perhaps our best weapons against it, and we'll get more from our friend's shop on the way. We'll want to stop by St. Bart's to see the Reverend too. Then we'll have to go to the underground chambers in the warehouse, where we believe it has its lair. That's where it retreated before. We'll have to get past the Home Guard before we can get down there."

“Perhaps Mr Thompson and I can think of a diversion for the home guard by the time we get there.” Replies Phyllis.
“Well I’m all breakfasted and ready for the day when you are.” She smiles grimly.

“I’m sure we can make a nuisance of ourselves Mrs. C. Or maybe a big pot of tea might be enough to distract them, especially if we can get hold of some sticky buns.”

Phyllis’s eyes light up, “Come on then, we’d best hurry; one can’t buy a fresh sticky bun in London for love nor money after 10 in the morning!”

[Mephistophilis]

'Given the value of light, what do we think about the power of fire over the beast?' asks Anna, wondering about the possibility of setting light to it.

[Mr. Handy]

"The light of the flames would certainly affect it," said Story, "but light and magic are its only vulnerabilities. The heat of the flames would do nothing to it."

“Yep, when it had me, I managed to set fire to my hanky. It didn’t like that.” says Eugene, his face suddenly drawn.

Phyllis looks at Eugene with sympathy, she knows how he feels.
“It also has a long whip-like tail that it can use like an extra hand; it’s very strong. It wrapped around my waist but let go once I’d lit my lamp.” She says it matter-of-factly, not betraying the terror that she’d felt.

[Mr. Handy]

"Also keep in mind that there are two different creatures," said Story. "The Jaegerschreck is the one that the Steadmans have usually been summoning, and there are actually many of them. Those can be commanded or banished. The Father of All Bats is far more powerful and takes orders from nobody. Those lesser creatures actually serve it, though both are similar and share a vulnerability to light. You can tell them apart because the Father of All Bats has a single, three-lobed red eye."

“That’s the one that got me...” mutters Eugene. “It needs to be stopped.”

“Oh my.” Breathes Phyllis. She thinks back but can’t remember an eye, red or not. “It was all covered in black mist so I don’t think I saw its eye.
“Should we be about getting those buns?” She says to everyone.

[Mephistophilis]

'I think a bun might cheer me up anyway' says Anna. 'But a good supply of lamp oil and matches to douse this bat father in flames would make me feel even better.'

[Mr. Handy]

"If you'd seen the eye, you would know it," said Story. "Chances are that was just a Jaegerschreck. Still terrifying, but not as much as its daddy. Shall we be off?"

shopping, Phyllis will get a second hurricane lamp and extra oil for both. Plus matches, smelling salts and a loud whistle. She will also buy 2 large flasks, cups and sticky buns for the home guard where available.
