The Zero Room - OOC Chat Thread

London, 1940: The world is engulfed in the flames of war, and now the war has come to Great Britain's capital. German bombers rain death and destruction upon the blacked-out city, but what other terrors lurk unseen in the darkness? The Time Lord, his companions, and a handful of London's inhabitants doing their bit may be the only ones who can avert disaster.

This is Classic Doctor Who meets Call of Cthulhu, the fifth of a series of connected adventures set in different eras and locations that includes The Terror Out of Time, The Ninth Planet, The Shadow Over Dunwich, and The Brotherhood of Death.

That's fine, and take care. I wasn't able to update until today anyway, and I don't expect I'll be able to tomorrow.

Thanks for the welcome and the chance to play with you. Keep in mind, I am quite new to both CoC and PBP so I apologise in advance if I trip anything up.

I knew I'd never get a second successful Persuade roll in one adventure. It is a Cthulhu cursed skill!

Cubicle 7 are dropping their Call of Cthulhu license, with the aim of developing their own independent system. The license expires at the end of this month, so they're having a flash sale on their Cthulhu titles, that they have to sell or pulp if not sold by 31st December 2017. The discount isn't too much, 25% on most titles, but it includes the World War Cthulhu and Cthulhu Britannica Lines, as well as The Laundry. Full details here:

http://cubicle7.co.uk/cubicle-7-call-of-cthulhu-sale/

I've just picked up their World War Cthulhu London and Cold War books in the sale.

Also Cubicle 7 will be having a sale starting later this week on PDF versions of their Call of Cthulhu titles at DriveThruRPG/RPGNow. So for anyone just wanting PDFs, or perhaps wanting something that isn't in print any more, like the London boxset, that will be a reduced price option too.

Thanks! I have a physical copy of World War Cthulhu: The Darkest Hour that I got for half price in a sale some time ago (along with some Achtung! Cthulhu stuff), and more recently I purchased the Cthulhu Britannica and World War Cthulhu PDF bundles. World War Cthulhu: London has been a great resource for this game! I don't have The Laundry books, but that's something to consider when the PDFs go on sale. I'm not going to get hard copies, as shipping from the UK to the USA, just like the other way around, is insane,

They ship within the US directly MrHandy, so do bear that in mind. There is a flat rate for UK/US shipping, and it goes out from whichever warehouse as needed - UK for UK orders, US for US or Canada ones.

To give an idea of the shipping costs, the World War Cthulhu Cold War book is down from $44.99 to $33.74, and US shipping for that (sent from within the US) is just $3.37 on top. Which sounds quite reasonable to me ;)

The bigger issue at the moment, to be honest, is that the print stocks are dwindling, and some things are already out of print.

PDFs will be fine though, but of course will stop being sold after 31st December.

When the PDF sale goes live I'll try to post here again as a heads up.

Thanks again! The Laundry core books are already sold out, though, and I already have the World War Cthulhu and Cthulhu Britannica collections.

Take care!

I was looking in my Wizard's Cabinet after buying the Dracula Dossier Bundle and noticed that I have a 30% discount for Cubicle 7's webstore for Cthulhu Britannica and World War Cthulhu books until the end of the year. If I want to get hard copies of any of my PDFs, I could get an even better bargain, and I could also preorder Our American Cousins for $17.50.

Cubicle 7 haven't announced it widely yet, but they have now reduced the prices on the PDFs of their Cthulhu items. Available to buy on RPGNow / DriveThruRPG.

Sales on The Laundry, Cthulhu Britannica and World War Cthulhu will continue until the 31st December 2017, but they will stop after then. So pick up anything you want before then.

Deals on print + PDF are still available direct from Cubicle 7, via their own webstore. Again until the end of this month on these ranges.

Mr H, sing out if Archie's plans conflict with your story telling. I guess my intention (as Archie stated) would be for him to try to arrange an expedited autopsy, wait the results, then find his way back to old Giles at the church.

All is flexible, however!

Don't worry, it doesn't interfere. Just do what your character would do. Players doing unexpected things makes the game more interesting. This adventure, like most of them in this campaign, is rather sandboxy, so it's hard to derail it.

I kind of realised that the campaign’s scope happens to be pretty big after realising an offhand reference about Anna’s job resulted in an entire plot point. Awesome dedication right there! Loving the game so far. :D
