Leonek changes into civvies, packing a couple of days' worth as well. Hopefully they wouldn't be gone any longer than that. He keeps his Browning with him rather than packing it away; he tucks it into the small of his back where shirt tails and a coat can keep it covered. The map goes into a coat pocket.

As prepared as he's going to be, he goes down to where the heli is waiting. "Good morning, Flight Lieutenant."

By 7:30 AM, the entire team was aboard the helicopter and ready to depart. Chad Engraham took off on schedule, and the flight to Halesworth was swift and without incident. The old RAF base north of the city had fallen into disuse in the last forty years, though there were a few signs of recent activity. As he approached, he and his passengers could see the two vehicles they had been told about in the briefing: a white Land Rover and an old black Ford Model T. There was also a signalman on a flat, paved patch of ground waving a pair of flags. Not far away, a fuel tanker was parked.

"Eagle, this is RAF Halesworth," came a woman's voice on the radio. "You are cleared for landing."
OOC,Chad, please roll Pilot Helicopter at double your skill due to good conditions in order to land. A failure will not cause a crash (except possibly if it's an extremely bad one), but the helicopter may suffer some damage.

Chad made his descent almost automatically, without even thinking about it. He didn't even notice that the signalman was waving him off desperately until it was too late. He was coming down too fast, and when he tried to close the throttle, he mistakenly opened it, increasing the chopper's downward speed. In a panic, he twisted the yoke, but that only made matters worse. The helicopter pitched sideways as it struck the ground, crashing down on its side. As it slewed, the tail rotor went right through the signalman's neck. His head slid off and fell to the ground, his eyes wide with shock.

The people in the helicopter fared better thanks to being strapped in, but there were still injuries galore. Chad wasn't hurt too badly, but the pilot's seat had better padding. Leonek only had minor bruises and abrasions. Raymond was somewhat worse for the wear. Not only that, but his and Tobias's tool kits and Tobias's briefcase bore the brunt of the crash. They were utterly crushed and tangled in the twisted wreckage at the rear of the helicopter. Tobias himself was closest to the rear, and he was horribly wounded in the crash and pinned beneath the ruined metal shell of the helicopter. The pain was severe, but only briefly, as unconsciousness quickly claimed him - though not before he got a glimpse of the hapless signalman.

Salem was lightly wounded in the crash landing. Fortunately, his equipment had been spared all but minor dents, as it had been further forward. Valerie somehow got through it all unscathed, completely without a scratch. Elliot was not so lucky, and neither was his gear. The backpack and all of its contents had been destroyed along with the Technical Advisors' equipment. His pistol and ammo were on his person, but everything else was a total loss.
OOC,Chad, please roll Sanity for accidentally causing the signalman's death. Sanity loss is 1/1d8, so you lose 1d8 Sanity if you fail, and you still lose 1 Sanity even if you succeed. If you lose 5 or more Sanity, you may go temporarily insane. In that event, roll Idea. If the Idea roll fails, you don't go temporarily insane. If it succeeds, you do. As long as you don't go temporarily insane, you may act freely. If you lose 7 or more Sanity (20% of your current Sanity), you will go indefinitely insane, picking up a long-term insanity that will last for months. Everyone else, please roll Sanity for witnessing the death. Sanity loss is 0/1d4. Tobias is currently unconscious, but everyone else may act. If you apply First Aid to someone successfully, this will restore 1d3 HP to that person (though he cannot get back any more than he lost in the crash). It will also wake Tobias up, at which point he will be able to act, though he is still trapped. Yes, getting back out just became a lot more complicated.

Raymond grunted as a chunk of metal shrapnel lodged itself into his back. Raymond brushed off the signalman's death, it hadn't been the first time he had seen a man die and he didn't expect it to be the last. Instead he turned his attention to his teammates. While not formally trained in first aid or medicine, it didn't take an EMT to know who was hurt the worst.

Raymond rushed to his assistant's side and began removing the metal and applying basic first aid - leaving the more severe wounds for the medic. "Shields, get over here and help me with him!" Raymond's first aid techniques were out of date and ineffective, so he continued to try to get Tobias free without moving him.

The sight of the signalman was minimalized when Chad looked back and saw Tobias pinned beneath the chopper's mass. He unstrapped and tried to move back as soon as the bulk stopped moving, looking for flames as he went. He moves and tries to help Raymond and Salem get Tobias clear of the wreck. In his head, he KNEW he was going to be doing a major amount of answering for his actions just then, but for now, everyone needed to get clear of the mess. "Well, everyone, welcome to Dunwich. Please exit the aircraft in an orderly fashion."

There were no flames inside the wrecked helicopter, but through the shattered windscreen Chad could see a couple of small fires on the ground outside where pieces of the helicopter had broken off. That would not be too big a concern if it were not for the slowly spreading puddle of fuel that was leaking from the breached fuel tank in the main body of the helicopter towards the burning, severed tail section.
OOC,Anyone who does not apply First Aid (or Medicine, which may be used in its place) this round may instead attempt to lift the wreckage and free Tobias (so Raymond cannot try to do so this round). At most two people can attempt this each round. In order to do this, you will need to match your STR against the SIZ of the debris that has him pinned, which is 20, on the Resistance Table. A score of 10 or below will fail automatically. If two people cooperate, only one of them rolls, but the sum of the two characters' STR scores is used.

Seeing the fires, he leaves the others to free Tobias and looks for a fire extinguisher to try to buy the others some time.

"Is everybody okay?", as Salem wipes the dusts and debris off his face, his legs feel numb and his back is stiff. Despite the discomforts, Salem shakes the pain away and scans the area and notices the body of the servered signalman, "Shields, get over here and help me with him!", Raymond cries. Just as Salem rushes to Raymond's side,"on the count of three Raymond we lift... 1... 2... 3...", and without much effort, both Salem and Raymond lifted the wreck off of Tobias as they pull Tobias out of the wreckage as well.

Tobias! Wake up! Can you hear me?", as Salem examines Tobias's head for bruises while examining wounds on his body. However, with no avail the wounds appear much worse than they appear as Salem thinks of something else to treat Tobias.

With further treatment to Tobias's wounds, Salem miraculously succeeds in waking Tobias up.

OOC/Socks,I can't lift this turn because I attempted first aid right away. I'm sure someone else will help you instead in which case you can edit your post. I'm sure Handy will let you use the lifting roll you already did to make things easier. Also, double check your links - they seem to be broken.
