Timms joins Arch by the stained book. Using a pen to flip the pages he reads some parts of the book. Mainly the sides that are stained as well as the last page and the foreword or dedication. The book of Ward Philips, Rascee pulls out and asks one of the police men, "Have you gone through all books concerning the murder yet? I´m interested in looking through this work by the reverend in a less disturbing place. If you write the title down it will be noted that I borrowed it from the library?"

Reading a section of the book out aloud,
"If any are scandalized that New England, a place of as serious piety as
any I know of should be troubled so much by witches, they should ask
themselves this question: Where would the Devil most wish to make
his inroads but in that place where he is hated the most?"
, Rascee says, "Maybe we should check the church for clues to the murder? Is this murder related to the seven sins or something? If that is so, there will be six more following this killing... What could this woman be accused of regarding the cardinal sins?"

"Maybe we should go and meet up with the others?" Timms gets the feeling that he´s not going to find anything more here. He looks at Ackland for agreement.
