A dark shadowy figure rises through the ice and grabs hold of Corizon’s leg. She can feel the creature pulling her solid form through the ice and she quickly jerks her leg free before the shadow can gain a proper hold.
Corazon turns to face her would be attacker and lashes out with her sharp boney claws. Her claws rake across the figures chest and it moans in pain. Then Corazon’s teeth sink deep into the figures neck and in seconds the shadowy figure is still. Half of its body remains buried beneath the ice and other half slumps to the cavern floor with a lifeless thud.
Corazon looks down and immediately recognizes the shadowy figure as a Taqriaqsuit; one of the few creatures of the spirit world that have established actual settlements amongst the ever-changing landscape. They mostly keep to themselves; worshipping Sedna and all her pantheon in their solitude. Corazon has always thought the Taqriaqsuit a peaceful people. Why they have chosen to attack Nanook is a complete mystery to Corazon. Perhaps they can sense something is wrong in the Bear God or perhaps they are displeased that a Shaman Hunter follows him so closely. Whatever the case may be, Corazon can hear Nanook roar his displeasure from further on down the cavern.
As Corazon moves to follow, two more Taqriaqsuit rise through the ice holding shining metal shields and long golden spears. They take a defensive posture blocking the Shaman Hunter’s path to the Shadow Bear.
