Making a mental note to check out the door he rushes back to the phone. Ok I got one. What's that number and address.

"Okay, here's Charlie's number," she begins reciting the digits. The door to the office starts squeaking on rusty hinges as it slowly opens a few inches, as though blown by a non-existent breeze. There's a thump against the glass near Louie's face, causing him to jump, but it's only a newspaper slamming against the thick, grimy glass, before being blown away outside. She's onto the sixth digit as the door to the office squeaks open a few more inches. Was there movement over there? Something crouched low enough to hide beneath the counter, barely captured in the light of his flashlight?

Louie keeps his flashlight trained on whatever is out there, since it's strapped to the barrel of his gun and finishes writing down the number quickly. Once the number is written down he speaks quickly. I'll get the address later, right now something is trying to sneak up on me. He drops the phone, not hanging it up and squares himself off with the shotgun. If you think you are hiding your wrong. Stand up or I'll blast you.

Something clatters onto the floor behind him. Whipping around, he sees a rusted can of spaghetti roll - almost leisurely - across the floor. His flashlight, quivering, trains on it in near fascination as it rolls to rest beside the wall. Then it rises up to quiver around the edges of the line of shelves, in search for whatever he believes disturbed it. The door to the office stops creaking - at least - but if anyone had crept out from behind it in order to get around to the shelving, he would have spotted them. He has a clear line of sight as the pay phone is on the wall only a half dozen feet away from it.

Louie takes this as his cue to leave. Keeping the gun up and trying to look everywhere at once he heads for the door.

The phone behind him swings upon its cord as he heads for the door. His fingers grasp it - so very cold. He feels a strange longing for the phone ... for Jill's voice ... out there, all is cold, out there, all is frighteningly lonesome. He can feel something beckoning him out there, reaching around for him. Yet it isn't out there exactly. It's in here with him. Surrounding him. All-encompassing. If he would only kneel... If he would only give himself to it... It calls for him to return ... but to what?

Now he is torn between three places. The phone ... with Jill ... a comforting human voice ... and with it his humanity. To run ... flee to his bike ... ride out and away from this twisted place ... try to find a place beyond its borders. The beacon ... strangely compelling ... both within him and somewhere else ... drawing his attention to a place ... not far.

Louie feels for the flask around his neck. His get out of jail free card. He starts making his way towards the beacon. Gun pointing the way he yells. You won't take me alive, you sons of bitches. He lets out a warning shot more for his comfort than to scare anything away. Cocking the gun he smiles and continues on. Ok Louie it's time to use the force.

The beacon directs him down the street. It sings to him, thrumming within his own head. He's not sure how far away it is ... but it's out there. Calling for him.

Louie shoulders the gun, not thinking it's going to do much good and looks for something to make ear plugs out of. If he finds something he'll stuff it into his ears trying to muffle the sound. Holding his vial around his neck he makes his way slowly on.

At first he shoves his hands against his ears but realises that the sound seems to be originating between his ears. The song presses in on him from all angles with the same pressure found in a migraine. The song is a crazed and disjointed jumble of words and sounds. A terrible cacophany sung in thousands of indistinct voices. The words call to him, violating his very flesh, and he screams in agony as his nose bleeds.

Louie touches a hand to his nose and looks at the blood. He gasps in concern. I'm not going to faint, I'm not going to faint. Taking a couple of deep breaths Louie stabilizes himself. Turning towards his bike he tries to run to it. Got to get away.

As he reaches his bike, grasping it, seating himself on it, sliding sideways, gripping tighter, re-settling himself, fumbling with keys, oh shit oh shit, inserting the key, twisting, nothing, oh god oh shit, inserting, twisting, fear rising, though his mind containing itself, the voices break off their song and turn to a scream, long, strong, harrowing, rearing up in his mind.

OOC: Physical hysteria sounds like a good one for now.

The voices fall back to babbling and their voices pull at the edges of his sanity as though calling him to rejoin the fabric ... what is the fabric ... the fabric of something stitched together ... all together ... where is it ... all around ... my voice, my feet, pulled from the fabric ... by what and when ... always.

SAN loss 0/1d3.

Louie makes his way back to his bike laughing hysterically at the absurdity of the situation. His laughter quickly turn to tears, and then back to laughter again just as quickly. Come on Louie get a grip on yourself.

The burble of voices begins to die away. It seems to have emanated from somewhere south east.

The journey is almost uneventful, though slowed by Louie's incessant giggling as thoughts and feelings whirl through his mind. It seems almost jaunty, riding down the silent roads, and thoughts of himself doing so naked flood his mind, distracting him from the task at hand. He finds he has gone around in circles and must try to re-orient himself.

Louie straightens himself getting his bearings, and once he's on his way again he starts to giggle. Dam I'm as bad as the bloody joker. Of course this triggers the batman theme song in his head. Na na na na na na na na na na na na Batman.
