A terrible, groaning screech sounds from downstairs. The hospital lights flicker on and off. An upwelling of icy cold air swells up from the basement floor, moving up in a horizontal barrier of coldness. Carson throws back his head and screams - his cry of terror and pain joining the voices of others spread through the hospital.
