Episode 1 - What hath night to do with sleep?

[Mr. Handy]

"Darren!" cries Harry, running up to him to try to help him. "What happened?!"

[Philulhu]

”He did it!” said Charlie, pointing at Barry with the metal pipe.

He looked at Harry, then pulled him in closer so he could whisper, ”I don’t know what to do for him! He could die!”

[Snapper]

"Oh good god! He needs first aid! Does anyone know any first aid stuff?"

"And who the hell is that maniac? Did he do this? Who is he? And ... What is that?" Max looked at Louis, his voice getting very high pitched.

[Philulhu]

”I think I heard Darren call him Louis,” said Charlie. He knelt down next to Darren, to see if there was anything he could do…

Darren lies floppily in Louis's lap. He's covered in blood but the bloodied rag that Louis has pressed against the back of his head seems to have staunched the bleeding.

Barry continues to sit in the dirt, rocking.

Harry is too panicky to be of much help.

Max's knowledge of first aid was entirely book-based but he dived in and did his best with a handkerchief and bits of torn-off clothing. "We'll have you good as new in no time, don't you worry Darren."

Realising that others were better equipped to help Darren, Charlie stood and watched Barry warily. He really hoped that he didn’t try anything for although he had the metal pipe, Barry was an adult and still much bigger than him.

Louis helps where he can but he’s puzzled why Darren is in such a bad way.

Louis rolled an extreme success when he initially administered first aid

Sorry! Totally failed to see that Louis had already succeeded with the first aid. Missed that post.

Barry is still sitting there, rocking, shouting to himself. 'It's the fucking clown...the fucking clown,' his crazed look is replaced by one of misery. He adopts a strangely familiar growling voice, 'Give up your lies if you wanna be free...Gotta give up your lies Barry.'

Darren looks to be in a really bad way. He's just lying across Louis's knees. Floppy. Not moving. He's breathing but not showing any other signs of life. But then...slowly...there's movement. It's difficult to notice at first, but then you can see his feet wiggling, then his hands. Eventually he opens his eyes, and gives a weak smile.

You're starting to get some feelings back in your arms and legs - it's an unpleasant tingling sensation like when you've leant on it too long. Your head and neck is still throbbing but it's a little bit duller now. You force open your eyes to see your friends crowded around you looking concerned. You're lying across Louis's lap and he's staring down at you in concern.

It's weird. He doesn't look so bad as he did. Apart from the blood encrusted on his skin he actually looks unharmed. You blink your eyes to clear your vision but his appearance doesn't change. He's got better!

[Mr. Handy]

"Yeah, that clown said the same thing to Max," says Harry. "I wouldn't trust the clown. He did tell us where our friends were, but he doesn't have our best interests at heart."

[Snapper]

"I'm not going to trust any clown ever again!"

"What do we do with this crazy guy? Tie him up? Whatever we do, we need to get Darren to hospital or call an ambulance. Which means getting out of here, I guess."

[Philulhu]

”I don’t know that I want to get near him again,” said Charlie. ”I don’t think he’s going to do any further damage now.”

He couldn’t be sure but he didn’t want to be anywhere within reach of Barry, even if he now held the pipe which had been used on Louis and Darren.

[Snapper]

Max looked at the crazy man again. "OK, I don't disagree with you," he said to Charlie.

He looked over at Louis, horrified. "Umm, I don't know your name but ... Do you want us to try to bandage you up as well ... ?" Max actually wasn't sure that anything could be done but politeness forced him to ask the question at least.

[Mephistophilis]

Max studies Louis face. He's caked in dried on blood, it's smeared across his skin and encrusted in his hair. Livid welts and bruises are visible across his face and around his eyes in particular. It's superficially repellent, but the closer he looks the more he realises that the boy has no major injuries. His skin isn't broken despite the blood. There's no evidence of any fractures or significant contusions. If he was beaten about the head as it appears he was, he's been very, very lucky to escape serious injury.

[Mr. Handy]

"This is my friend, Louis," says Harry, doing what he can to help him. "Darren and I came here to meet him. We survived the Barnaker House together last year, and we'll survive this."

”What the hell’s the Barnaker House?” said Charlie. ”And you’ve been through this shit before?!”

Still hazy, Darren looks at Louis. "Hey pal, long time no see.Harry and me have came to get ya.....Wheres Wendy?" Although he can see that Louis is looking better, Darren puts it down maybe he wasn't as bad as he thought he was, maybe in the dark he didn't see properly or maybe he's still groggy from the beating he just took from that kid beating asshole.
