Eventually starting onward again, the shadows in the mist seem to become more defined. Like another ride. And there's something else, a sort of flickering glow in the distance.
Approaching a little more slowly you can finally make out that this is some kind of bumper-car ride, rusted carts litter the floor, and the roof has mostly collapsed in, leaving only the metal frame, covered in a red-brown rust. A sign reads Dodgems. Towards the far side there's a good going fire inside one of the cars, smoke billowing up and out the open roof.
A bit closer and in addition to the ride, and the fire, you can see movement on the grass just outside the ride. A figure stands there, a man, a big man. He's got some kind of broken and twisted metal pole. And he swinging it against the ground. Shouting 'Fuck you!' with each blow. And now you're watching him you can see that he's not just hitting the ground. There's something on the ground, a lump. No, a body. Huddled, small, like a child. And he's smashing it - it looks to be into the head or face - he's hitting it over and over again. There's blood on the end of the pole, there's splashes of blood as he strikes the body.
Then he looks up.
Stares at you. His expression is contorted in a crazed grimace, a mixture of emotions, anger, maybe fear as well. There's tattoos across his arms, up his neck. He's dressed in a bomber jacket, filthy white T-shirt, jeans and work boots. Muscular but turned to fat. And he smiles, smiles at you both.
