Episode 1 - What hath night to do with sleep?

Halloween Night, 1987. A year since the events at the Old Barnaker House. Memories have faded. Things seem, fuzzier somehow. Did that, could that have even happened?

And here you are again, on Halloween Night. On the outskirts of an old amusement park. On Halloween Night. Didn't want to be called a chicken again...

And here you are. Something tugs at the back of your mind. A forgotten memory. This isn't right. You shouldn't be here. There's a metal arch over the front gate, topped by large, rusted metal letters. The remaining letters spell out 'UNLAND.'

OOC:   Has the bridge gone completely? Or have the timbers gone but the ironwork is still there?

The bridge seems to be made almost entirely of wood. There are wooden handrails, wooden slatted decking, and an arched wooden substructure. The initial part of the bridge on this side of the channel starts as wooden decking just running across a slightly marshy surface, this remains intact. Then the decking begins to be supported on wooden piles sunk into the water. This part has some damage and while the decking looks mostly intact, the handrails have fallen away in places. Then from this side the last part of the bridge that is visible is a span that rises up in an arch over the main channel of water. This is what has collapsed in the middle. There's a section that climbs up, handrails intact, then it drops away into the water where a span has collapsed into the murky channel below. There's still some of the substructure poking out of the water. Then the bridge seems to start again maybe 10 feet beyond, the decking elevated in the air on a more stable structure, and dropping back down to the bank on the other side to continue as the path.

"With the bridge out," says Harry, "we'll have to go around the lake to the west."

"Maybe," says Harry, "but I don't know if I trust the boats in this place. Let's follow the shore to the west, and we'll see if we find any boats along the way."

”Yep, let’s stick to dry land,” said Charlie. ”Like Harry, I wouldn’t want to be on open water here!”

He looked around, looking for a path to follow.

Max shrugged. "OK, but keep an open mind if we're being chased by clowns and we find a nice pirate ship. Let's keep going though." He cast a nervous glance back in the direction the creaking noise came from.

“If it’s the same as Barnekker House then there’s no point in trying to escape- not until we’ve found and burnt the Witch.” Louis turns and points north. “She’s up there somewhere.”
Louis walks over to the bridge to gauge the length of span that’s missing (was there a chance of fixing a way over?)
“I don’t want to meet Barry again, he’ll be even madder next time.”

The missing span across the water is a good ten foot in length. It's not obvious how it could be fixed but the wooden pilings still rise out of the water and perhaps provide enough handhold for someone to try and climb across.

In terms of paths, there are essentially four visible from here. North, across the broken bridge; south, back towards the entrance and seemingly blocked by the struts of the rollercoaster; south-east around the scenic lake; and finally south-west past the funhouse and around the boating lake.

”That’s too risky,” said Charlie, looking at the gap in the bridge before pulling Louis away. ”Let’s take the path round the lake. Just make sure you stay away from the water’s edge!”

"Right, let's go that way," says Harry, pointing to the southeast.

"Do you all know something about water that I don't? Although, this does make me think of the Fellowship of the Ring at the entrance to Moria, by the lake." . Max frowned at the water.

There's a slight stirring of the water. Ripples emanating out from towards the middle of the channel and washing against the piers of the bridge.

"Maybe we shouldn't think of things like that here," says Harry. "If it works like Ghostbusters, thinking about it could make it appear."

That's a good assumption. Southeast, around the lake.
