Harold retraced his steps, carefully looking around for anything useful, but all he could find was more carnage.

Searching around the clearing, all they found were their own tracks, weaving in and out of the frozen carnage, It didn't look as if the site had been disturbed in any way since the frightful massacre had taken place.

"I think we've found everything we can here," says Benjamin. "We should keep moving toward the station."

Randy resumed his tree-notching once the team started moving again. Randy was anxious to get to shelter before nightfall, pointing out the unidentified monster / beast wouldn't need to lift a claw if the team simply froze to death.

There was a feeling of relief at moving away from the clearing where the poor people had been slaughtered but the question of who - or what - was responsible persisted as they moved on through the forest. The only sound to be heard was that of snow compacting or twigs snapping as they weaved their way through the undergrowth, the sky above darkening and the temperature dropping as they went. There were no birds, no animals rustling in the undergrowth, just the noises they made as they cautiously advanced.

As you move forward, you can’t help but get the feeling that you’re being watched…

When he wasn't notching up trees, Randy clutched his M16 in both hands.

"This forest is giving me the heebie-jeebies. I feel like we're being watched."

" Its quiet...too quiet....don't like it.We are too exposed out here. We need to make th station ASAP!" Gavin says nodding at Randy's words.

"Then let's keep going," says Benjamin, leading the way with his M16 at the ready.

"Keep calm and formation, observe all angles you can, dont point your guns towards others, and if you see something that moves, shoot to kill."

While trying to be calm and composed, the woman was considerably panicking inside, she kept her weapon prepared to shoot, with violence and no mercy.

Boyd has one of the pistol flares in his hand. Sure, he was supposed to keep and only use in the case of a rescue team would appear, but after all he saw, the rescue plane was the least of his concerns...

"The other guys that were massacred didn't have any weapons, we have, so that is an advantage, right?"

"That's true," says Benjamin. "They probably didn't have our training either." It occurs to him that they might have actually had weapons that were taken by whoever or whatever killed them, but he doesn't voice this idea. No sense alarming the others.

Another tense hour passed as they made their way through the trees but eventually, they began to thin out and the snow-covered rise reappeared before them again, with Exxon Pumping Station #31 on the low summit.

It was surrounded by a high chain link fence topped with barbed wire, with two gates entering the compound on the northwest and southeast sides, near the points where the pipeline passed through. From the briefing, they knew that station comprised half dozen buildings with a large central structure that housed the pumping machinery and radio shack. The other buildings contain personnel quarters, offices, a maintenance area, garage, and general storage.

Even at a distance, it was clear that something wasn’t right. Both gates appeared to be bent and twisted out of place as if pushed or pulled with great force. The buildings seemed to be intact, but the doors on at least two of them were wide open… …

"We should head for the closer gate and head inside," says Benjamin. "Whatever has happened to that camp must have happened here too. Our first stop should be the radio shack. We need to get a message out."

" Aye and then maybe find some proper first aid for this blasted foot" Gavin chips in as he hobbles along, pistol drawn.
