Ch.1 Rescue Plan

”Can we get outa here?!” Bill said fearfully, looking back over his shoulder. “I don’t want to be out here if that bear comes back, even if you have got guns!”

[Snapper]

Randy tried to remember the very little training he'd had with the RCAF on handling prisoners. "OK, clasp your hands on top of your head and walk towards us, don't run. Don't make any sudden moves. At any point if we can't see both your hands, there's a good chance someone will shoot you. We're going to need to search you when you get to us too, just to be safe."

[Philulhu]

”Ok, ok,” said Bill, who placed his hands on his head and carefully stepped forward through the heavy snow, stopping a few yards short of the party, waiting to be searched.

"Do you have any idea what happened in this base? Because this wasn't made by bears".

[Snapper]

Randy looked over to Benjamin. "Ben, you happy to cover him while I search him?"

"Yeah Bill what did you film out here? Did you get what happened to the station? Before or after this shit show?"

[Philulhu]

”Just us setting up camp and talking about what we planned to do. We were gunna handcuff ourselves to the plant but we never got there… we got attacked first…” said Bill. At the mention of the attack, he closed his eyes and shuddered, his hands gripping the top of his head, taking deep breathes so as to stop himself passing out.

Benjamin nods to Randy and covers him. "I killed a bear earlier," he says, "but there may be more than one. The bear was wounded already when I shot it. It only took one bullet, but I hit it in the right place."

[Snapper]

Randy left his M16 with the team and slowly approached the stranger, Bill, careful not to get in Ben's line of sight.

"OK, I'm going to search you. Just keep your hands on top of your head and I'll have this done in no time."

Randy's plan is to stay out of Ben's way so Ben can cover Bill. Randy will circle around behind Ben and start searching him from behind.

Bill kept his hands on the top of his head as Randy circled behind him. ”Just to be clear, I’ve got a camp knife in my right-hand pants pocket,” he said. ”It’s sheathed, so it’s no danger.”

Randy was able to recover the knife without a problem, some cheap mass-market model made of lower-grade steel that would struggle to hold an edge. From the pack worn on Bill’s back, he recovered some packets of freeze-dried foods, a Zippo lighter, a canteen and a hip flask.

Considering Randy and Benjamín were dealing with the protester, Amanda looked arround, just in case anything would try to sneak on them while they were distracted.

"Have you seen any other people around here?" asks Benjamin. "Any survivors from the pumping station?"

" If possible we should have a wee look at tge video recorfing we found. Might see summit on it.? suggestGavin.

Randy kept the knife but returned the backpack and other items to Bill."We're not here to steal from you. I'll give you the knife back once the authorities arrive."

"He doesn't have any other weapons on him," Randy called to the others. With that, he went and retrieved his M16, during the snow and ice off it.

"So, we continue our inspection the base? Because I'm not interested to stay much longer outside and attract any attention with our voices,"

[Philulhu]

Bill nodded vigorously. ”Yeah, let’s get out of the cold!”

OK, what’s your approach to the station? Are you going through the front gate? Circling around to the gate on the other side? Climbing the fence? Going together or splitting into two groups?

[Mr. Handy]

I'm thinking the front gate, unless someone else has a better idea. We should stick together and head directly for the radio shack.

Happy with Mr H's plan. We definitely do not have the element of surprise. If anyone in there is paying attention, they should know we're about.
