Introduction

The Old Barnaker House. Every kid has heard about it. Everybody has a different awful story about it. All of them agree it is a very bad place.

But here you are on Halloween Night, all because of that jerk Roger. He dared you and your friends to spend the night there. You couldn’t let him bully you.You will show him who is chicken! Everybody knows that there are no such things as ghosts. Everybody knows that, right?

So get your slingshot and your pocket knife. Grab some candy and ready your Rubik’s Cube. You and your friends are going to go face-to-face with the horrors of the Barnaker House.

Hopefully you will live to see the dawn.

The Barnaker House is waiting...

It's not easy being a kid. Not in the '80s, not ever. School is a dog-eat-dog world of social hierarchies, judgement, embarrassment, and endless potential humiliation. And then there's the bullies, in Northfield the king of them all is Roger Simmons. He makes the life of you and everyone at school a complete misery. After the sweet reprieve of a few days when Roger was skipping school he's back, just in time for Halloween. He's just as obnoxious as ever but he's also come with an intriguing proposition. The dare. He's challenged a bunch of you to stay overnight in the Old Barnaker House. He's promised if you can stay till dawn he'll leave you alone for the rest of the year. And you could do with the social kudos that would come from successfully completing Roger's dare. It's been a long semester.

The scenario is set on Halloween night in 1986 in the small Indiana town of Northfield. It's inspired by '80s kids movies like ET, Stand by Me, Goonies, and so on, as channelled in modern nostalgia-series like Stranger Things. Being Call of Cthulhu the tone is more like Stephen King's IT and the scenario writers suggest some late '70s and '80s horror tropes such as Halloween and Poltergeist. So content-wise there's going to be the risk of or actual child death or harm, body horror etc. Since you seem to be an aged bunch I suspect you'll all cope. You survived the '80s after all.
