She turns to Gui. “Come on then, but no funny business.”

Affronted by the suggestion, Gui spluttered, ”As if, Mademoiselles! I give you my word as a gentleman that nothing untoward will happen to you!”

If Brook is heading up, Story heads down.

“One would assume this leads to the servants’ quarters.” Elizabeth whispers, not fully understanding Brook’s reference, as she follows Story down and down again.

"If so, it may tell us something about the purpose of these passages if the servants have entrances too."

Brook nods.

“Right, c’mon Gui, let’s do this.”

“Where and when shall we meet back up? In our room?”

[Philulhu]

”As you wish, Mademoiselles,” replied Gui.

“Okay!” Elizabeth whispers back as she follows Story back down the stairs.
