Seeing Brook's reaction, Story mouths 'someone there,' pointing at the wall.

Brook joins in the search, her eyes alighting on something.

“I see it too.” Elizabeth whispers.

[Mr. Handy]

Elizabeth and Brook found a hidden catch in the paneled wall. The sounds of footsteps had moved away far to the left by this time.

Brook points the catch out to Story.

Raising a quizzical eyebrow, she mimes turning a handle and opening a door.

Story nods.

“A secret passage!” Thinks Elizabeth and her eyes up as she nods.

Returning the nods with a resolute one of her own, Brook flips the catch and, if required, slowly opens what is presumably a secret door…

[Mr. Handy]

Flipping the hidden catch caused a panel to swing open, revealing a narrow, darkened corridor stretching to the left and right at the rear of the room, parallel to the hall outside. Far to the left, the faint light of a candle was visible.

“Shall we go towards the light?” Brook whispers.

"We do need to know who that is..." Story says, with a somewhat reluctant tone.

Brook and Liz can probably tell Story is afraid of the prospect of going into the passage, though she will if they do.

“Brook and I’ll go first if you like.” Elizabeth says to Story who seems a bit nervous.

[SunlessNick]

Story nods, a bit sheepishly.

Did you say the fear of the dark would last three days?

[Mr. Handy]

Yes, approximately. There are candles and flint to light them in the room.

Brook frowns, before reminding herself of poor Eugene and his own terror of the dark. Obviously this new version of Story has her own fears to live with.

“I’ll go first,” she says, stepping through the hidden door and creeping towards the light.

Story takes a candle and some flint from the room, though she knows that lighting it will alert whoever is down the corridor - gritting her teeth, she tries to cope without it, focussing on the far-off candle as much as she can.
