IC-Ep 1-French Toast in the Renaissance(Story/Elizabeth/Brook)

Story, Elizabeth, and Brook arrive in Auvergne, France in 1517, where they meet some interesting people, including none other than Leonardo da Vinci. There are mysterious goings-on, one involving Leonardo's automaton, which appears to have killed a would-be thief.

IC-Ep 1-French Toast in the Renaissance(Story/Elizabeth/Brook)

Post by Mr. Handy »

Duc's Palace, Guest Quarters - Vyones, Auvergne, France
11:30 PM - Sunday, April 19, 1517

After arrangements for a guest suite for Story, Elizabeth, and Brook were made, and the servants carried the TARDIS to it and placed it in the main room, they left the time travelers in peace for the night, making it clear that if they wanted anything, they had but to call on them. The suite had three separate bedrooms branching off from the main room, and all the rooms were luxurious.

Brook looks around the chambers appreciatively.

“I’ve slept in worse places,” she says.

“Perhaps we’d better stay together though? That Gui seems a bit of a letch if you ask me. I wouldn’t put it past him to start creeping around.”

“Oh, I don’t think we have anything to worry about. I’m sure he is too concerned about having a hand chopped off for thieving to entertain any ideas of that sort.” Elizabeth says languorously from the corner.
“Just look at these tapestries; beautiful! The colours are so vibrant, nothing like the faded antiques we have in the 20th century.”

Brook saw that the servants had laid out a jug of wine, along with three glasses, and some light snacks for them on a table. The beds and pillows were stuffed with feathers and felt soft and comfortable, and the artwork on the walls, while not up to Leonardo da Vinci's caliber, was pleasing to the eye. The rooms were so splendid, it made her wonder how much better the Duc's own chambers must be in comparison, for surely he had the best rooms for himself.

Taking in the opulence of the chamber, Brook picks a grape.

“Well,” she says, chewing, “when in Rome, I suppose…”

Realising that she hasn’t really rested properly since London, she flops down on the bed.

Story concurs with staying together. She lies down slowly, as if wondering how it will feel in her new body.

The beds were certainly large enough to fit all three of them if they wanted, and they were very soft and comfortable. Sleep would come quickly if they wished.

“Do you think we should take turns?” Asks Elizabeth sleepily. “Although it seems quiet and safe enough with those guards about the place.”

"I think we should," Story says to Liz's idea. "Sometimes guards turn out to be the danger. I don't mind going first, if you want to the sleep. We're just on the heels of a very strenuous time."

Idea 65 - rolled 52.

Story takes a chair for now, rather than risk falling asleep in the bed. She doesn't turn the lights down, citing it being easier to watch if either of her companions ask.

Does she know of anything like this formerly glowing crystal from studying history? It is notable how the cessation of its glow coincided with the arrival of the TARDIS - and also with how the automaton may have moved without the presence of anyone knowing how to operate it.

It occurred to Story and Brook that they could stay in their rooms in the TARDIS. While they were not as elegant or comfortable as the suite, they would suffice, and nobody could get through the TARDIS's locked doors.

You don't know anything about the crystal, but you may all roll Occult to see what you know about Atlantis. You may also roll Cthulhu Mythos if you have it, though only Elizabeth does.

“I suppose we could kip in the TARDIS,” says Brook. “It’d be safe, though not necessarily as comfy as that bed. Unless of course you have a Renaissance bedchamber hidden in there Story.”

"I probably do, somewhere," Story says. "It might take a while to find. It would undoubtedly be safer, anyway."

Failed my occult roll, though I suppose Story would know the basics of the account put down by Plato (which is pretty different from how Atlantis is portrayed now).

“Better safe than sorry then,” says Brook, reaching a decision. “The TARDIS it is.”

“It’s probably for the best.” Elizabeth gets up and follows the others into the Tardis and finds somewhere to sleep there.

Story, Elizabeth, and Brook made their way to their respective rooms in the TARDIS. Sleep was a while in coming, as just recently it had been afternoon. Time lag was often a problem. Eventually they fell asleep and awoke in what was presumably the morning.

Elizabeth actually gets to roll both, so please go ahead and make that second roll. Brook may also still roll Occult. All Story knows about Atlantis are the basics.
