IC-Ep 1-French Toast in the Renaissance(Story/Elizabeth/Brook)

Elizabeth offers a hand to Story and follows Brook as quietly as she can.

[Mr. Handy]

No, you don't need to roll anything, just keep role-playing accordingly. But you do think you see a three-lobed red eye somewhere in the darkness...

Liz feels Story flinch and go cold. "It's here. The Father." Ignoring her previous precaution, she starts trying to light the candle.

[jp1885]

Brook stops at the mention of the Father.

“The Father of all Bats?” she whispers.

No wonder Story was afraid…

“Perhaps we’d better go back and fetch some flashlights from the TARDIS.”

[Mr. Handy]

The candle's wick caught fire, brightening the nearby area a little.

The Father of All Bats retreated into the darkness. It was no longer visible.

[SunlessNick]

"I can't see it any more - maybe the candle is bright enough - but you're right, we should carry some torches with us." Story seems fit to rush back to the room and the TARDIS right away.

Watching Story go, Brook turns to Elizabeth.

“Is the Father of all Bats really here do you think? Or has this new Story got a serious case of the jitters?”

“Can’t he impersonate a human?” Whispers Elizabeth frowning, unsure of her facts.
“Let’s go back, safer than walking into a possible trap. At least we know what we might be up against.”

Back in the room, Story take a few deep breaths, letting her hearts slow back down.

[Mr. Handy]

As Elizabeth and Brook were about to return to the room, they saw the distant candlelight disappear. All three of them knew that the Father of All Bats had the capability of taking over a human host, though its natural form was completely alien. While it had been banished, this was a much earlier time. In theory it could have been summoned in this time, though it would have to be by some other means than the Shining Trapezohedron, which was currently undiscovered in an ancient tomb.

Everyone, please roll Listen.

Brook is too preoccupied with Story’s fears, the possible presence of the Father and in finding a torch to notice any unusual sounds.

Story's nerves have made her hyper-alert.

[Mr. Handy]

Story couldn't be sure, but she thought she could hear movement from within the secret passage, coming closer. Was it the Father of All Bats? Something else? Was she imagining things?

[SunlessNick]

"Something's coming," Story whispers to Brook and Liz. She grabs for the nearest light, shining it toward the passage.

Listen fail: roll 90

“Quick, let’s go back to the Tardis!” Elizabeth squeaks, alarmed.

[jp1885]

Brook also backs up, desperately looking around for something to grab as a weapon, should the encounter turn to violence.

[Mr. Handy]

Gui's voice came from the secret passage: ”Mademoiselle, I mean you no harm. It is Gui, the poor, misjudged fellow from Monsieur Da Vinci’s room last night. If I can rely on your discretion, then I will show myself to you.”

[SunlessNick]

Story lets out a long breath. "Slowly."

“Oh great, it’s that creep,” Brook mutters.

“What are you doing skulking behind these walls?” she challenges.
