The year is 1105 of the imperial calendar (5623 AD of the old earth calendar) of the third imperium and the emperor is Strephon Aella Alkhalikoi.
You are travelling in the SpinwardMarches, Regina Subsector (C), to planet Xotli.
It is a small planet, with a circumference of 20.000 km. It was terraformed by a corporation centuries ago, but the corp bankrupted at middle of the process. The air can be breath, but the soil isn't very fertile, so it is scarcely settled. Most of the population is in equador raising cattle that feeds the miners in the north. The average temperature is 20º celcius on winter in the equador, 25 in the summer. Since the weather in the north is instable, most of the transports are done by railroad. All ships must land in the capital called "Hope" in the equador.



You are in a free trader ship. Using a 200-ton hull, the free trader is an elementary interstellar merchant ship plying the space lanes carrying cargo and passengers. It has jump drive-A, maneuver drive-A, and power plant-A, giving performance of jump-l and 1G acceleration. Fuel tankage for 30 tons supports the jump drive and one jump-I. Adjacent to the bridge is a computer Modelll . There are ten staterooms and twenty low berths. There are two hardpoints and two tons set aside for fire control. Cargo capacity is 82 tons.


The captain is Mac Malcom. He is a veteran of a rebelion (ill succeeded) against the empire from the planets of the periphery; he doesn' speak much about the subject.
