The rules are from the first edition. You can use the Little black books or the traveller book.

If you don't have the rules, you have this site to generate a char:

Choose one of the following careers:
army, marine, merchant, navy, other, scout.

IMPORTANT: one of you must choose scout (actually both can choose scout if you want).

Choose also verbose report
If you die, start the process again (obvious! :D ).
After you finish the character, you can make a short story of your char.

Feel free to make questions.

Background: Mary Tanaka is a powerfully-built young woman who is tough as nails. However, she has an abrasive personality and usually prefers solitude. She is a born explorer, drawn to discover new worlds. Her fondest desire is to discover an uninhabited paradise planet and claim it for her own without telling anyone about it. It was no surprise that she became a scout. There was nothing she loved better than exploring on her own, but she often rubs others the wrong way. She got in frequent fights (which she invariably won) and was drummed out of the service as a result. Without a ship of her own, she had to join on with a crew. While she doesn't usually form close friendships, she does get along well with Katy. Everyone likes Katy.

Those are awesome physical stats, but I have hardly anything in the way of skills. I think the problem was that I failed my first reenlistment roll. Is that rolled on 2d6? If so, that was really bad luck, but at least I survived character creation! ;)

Yes, you failed the reenlistement, you had bad luck. With lot's of luck you can get promoted several ranks. with a good pension and a ship. But the stats are indeed great. Could you please put at the end, the new stats after their increase?

Background: Lt. Colonel Ota was a career soldier, like his father before and his grandfather before that. He took it seriously, progressing quickly through the ranks. That came at a cost though; being a hard ass only works when your troops respect you and are willing to follow you. When Ota sent a company of soldiers on a near suicide mission and when that failed sent into another company, his remaining troops rebelled and refused to follow orders.

At the inquiry, Ota laid the blame on his officers and NCOs. They, in turn, laid the blame on him. The army wanted the PR disaster to quietly go away so his battalion was re-deployed to another regiment and Ota was shunted sideways into a REMF desk job for three months. When his re-enlistment came up, he was quietly informed that his services were no longer required and his re-enlistment was denied.

Bitter at the ending of his military career, Ota is looking for a new role, signing up for the first ship that would have him. He is acerbic, rude and generally difficult to get along with, which isn’t endearing him to his new crew-mates…

This numbers (6 str, 8 dex, 7 end, 11 int, 4 edu, 5 social.) are an exemple. Your real numbers are 385782 now (after decreasing str). You started with 485782. You have good dex and good edu. Mr Handy has good str, good dex and excelent endurance. It's like you switch characters :lol:

Hiroto, or 3/M Yang or even Doc H, has been part of a Libreville crew peddling stimulants between every port visitied by clients in need. A synthezised agent for boosting endurance after hitting the post-mission blues or coming down from a haluciogene high has been profitable. This profit has been put into numerous repairs to a number of ships used by the Libreville crew. This way of life, living from job to job, using the earnings to keep the latest vessel afloat and with working life support has taken its toll on Hiroto´s dexterity, making him prone to getting sinew pains in his fingers. Nothing you want to be seen when administring a shot of temporal infusion. Lucklily, those pains are readilky handled with spirits of the just right volume, about thirty minutes before mission launch. Doctor´s orders!

Through a number of mishaps, due to outside parties, of course, Hiroto has found himself in the brig of a port not entirely known to him. Under causes even more vague and in company of no acquaintance of his.
