Rourke:

Rourke looks up from his maps. "Recon, by all means. We gather the intel we need. But surely there might be better solutions to the problem than attacking the miners?"

"Miners who actually agree to go back to work are going to be much more productive in the long run than miners working at gunpoint."

"So, get the lay of the land and adapt accordingly." He nods affirmatively and gives a thumbs up. Hiroto brings up a crude PDA from a pocket in his cargo pants. Syncs with the, should there be one, network and tries to obtain some kind of live news feed.

You feel that the locomotive is reducing the speed until it finally stop: suddenly you hear the warning that you arrived at the place and the door opens.
You get outside: one the left side of the line, there is the station (a small building), several warehouses, and a central street that goes in direction of the town. On the right side there is only barren land. What you notice as soon as you get outside is the silence. Besides the wind, you don't hear any other sound.

“No reception committee? I’m disappointed,” Jacob mutters as he alights.

He scans the platform, looking for signs of life.

“Are the porters on strike too? Let’s find out.”

Shouldering his hold-all, he heads to the small station building.

Ota stepped down onto the platform and looked around. The silence was disquieting. Even in a back-of-beyond hick town you’d expect to see somebody… He didn’t say anything but just carefully unbuttoned his holster, just in case…

Mary looks around for any kind of movement or life on the way to the station.

[Snapper]

Rourke:

"You'd expect someone would be here to collect freight at least. Somewhere this far out, the arrival of the train should be of some interest."

Rourke heads towards the Station. "I wonder if there's someone like a Station Master?"

Stepping out last of the bunch, Hiroto leaves the locomotive and trails after the others towards the station building. He checks if anyone else got off the train after them. He only has what small trinkets he can carry upon his person.

The station is empty. There is a small office that says "personnel only", but the door is open, like if somebody left in a hurry.

With his hand on the butt of his pistol, Ota approached the door, pushing it open so he could see into the office behind. ”Anyone in here?!” he barked.

Once Ota has checked that everything is safe, Jacob looks around for any useful paperwork.

Rourke:

"Is there a computer terminal of any description I could examine?" Rourke starts looking for just that.

[Mr. Handy]

Mary stays on lookout, keeping an eye open for anyone approaching, though the whole place seems deserted.

There is a computer terminal and lot's of papers. You see also a an old sandwitch full or bugs.

Jacob selects a random pile of paperwork and reads through it.

Ota poked at the sandwich with the barrel of his pistol. How old did the bread look?

Something is off here,Hiroto thinks to himself. A major strike and angry miners... Where?

"Do we have a life scan of the area?"

Rourke:

Rourke smiles and heads over to the computer terminal. "Finally, something I can get my hands on." Cracking his knuckles, he turns it on and starts searching.
