Re: Character creation
Not to be picky, but I don't think Classic Traveller had skill-0. Was that random generator definitely set to "Classic" Traveller?
Re: Character creation
In classic rraveller, when you have a 0, you don't have that skill (exception is with regular weapons, you can use them even with 0); jack of all trades can also substitute any other skill (within a reasonable limit: you can't make brain operation or dismantle a nuclear bomb).

1st Ed Mongoose rules - is that not what we’re using?
Edit: just seen reply above!

Ok, third time lucky! Please see above for my merchant character, generated via the Classic rules generator as linked in the op.
I’ll flesh him out presently, but in general he’s a veteran trader who’s been in the business far too long and is looking for a final big score.

Re: Character creation

Santino Murphy
STR 8 DEX B(11) END 3 INT C EDU 7 SOC A(10) | Age 46 | 7 terms | Cr30,000
Skills: Brawling-1, Cutlass-1, Electronics-1, Forgery-2, Mechanical-1
Benefits: High Passage, Low Passage, Low Passage
Appearance: He's thin and wiry, grey haired and looks older than his years. With a serious face and flinty eyes.
Background: Santino has never been what you'd call a good man. He's made his way through life living by his wits and moving from place to place before he overstayed his welcome. Done a bit of legitimate work now and then, engineering mainly, but most of the time he's made use of his talent for faking documents and manifests to do some shady transactions on the side.
That's until he came to Calamity City. Looking for somewhere to lay low for a while he got himself a job in the mines as an engineer, repairing things. But he soon spotted opportunities with the company, a skilfully prepared reference here, a well placed bribe there, and he got himself a nice position in management and a chance to climb the greasy pole. Go legit. Well, almost. But he's got a nice thing going on here and he's not about to jeopardise it.
That's what he remembers anyway. Recently things have got a bit screwy...
