January 12 - Paris - Milano - Andrew

A puzzling headline begins a front-page article found in the Times of London. Three men, all identical in identification, were found dead in the same room of the Chelsea Arms Hotel. Then the home of a valued friend burns to the ground, severely injuring him in the process. It is the beginning of "Horror On The Orient Express" a European campaign set in the winter between January and March of 1923. Over the course of the campaign, the investigators are trying to collect the various pieces of an ancient statue called the Sedefkar Simulacrum. Night falls early then, and each night is long and cold. The campaign is made up of 11 scenarios, taking place in seven nations, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, The Kingdom of Serbs Croats and Slovenes, Bulgaria, and Turkey. All are stops on the path of the Simplon-Orient Express.

January 12 - Paris - Milano - Andrew

Post by robertod »

Virginia and the gangsters get into three black cars and leave the theater in a great hurry. Andrew manages to call a taxi and follow them. They arrive at a villa in the city center. It turns out to be Arturo Faccia's villa. There are three other cars parked in the internal courtyard. The lights inside are on. As she sees the cars approaching, the maid opens the gate and lets the three cars in.

Seeing the three cars enter the villa complex Andrew doesn't think he will get away with driving straight on in so he parks up around the corner and then casually strolls back towards the villa to look for any possible points of ingress or opportunities to overhear what is going on inside.

There are men monitor the surroundings and standing at the main entrances so it is not possible to get close to hear what is said without risking being spotted. However, when approaching the windows of the villa, Andrew can sees Arturo Faccia and his men talking to a group of other men. Their complexion and physiognomy identifies them as men from the Middle East, probably Turks. They don't talk much, but just look askance at the Italian gangsters, who are on the defensive, as if trying to explain something that went wrong. After a while, they appear to be discussing a plan with the Turks, who follow along nodding.

There´s a train leaving in the night, in two and a half hours. If you hurry you will be able to get it, if not, you will have to wait two days.

Figuring discretion is the better part of valour, Andrew returns to the hotel to suggest to the others that they would be better off getting out town now, before the Turks get the chance to regroup and retrieve the torso.

Returning to the hotel, Andrew is informed that the others have gone to visit Caterina at the hospital. Going after them, Andrew discovers that the singer has been admitted to a psychiatric ward.
