Some rules for the campain

A puzzling headline begins a front-page article found in the Times of London. Three men, all identical in identification, were found dead in the same room of the Chelsea Arms Hotel. Then the home of a valued friend burns to the ground, severely injuring him in the process. It is the beginning of "Horror On The Orient Express" a European campaign set in the winter between January and March of 1923. Over the course of the campaign, the investigators are trying to collect the various pieces of an ancient statue called the Sedefkar Simulacrum. Night falls early then, and each night is long and cold. The campaign is made up of 11 scenarios, taking place in seven nations, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, The Kingdom of Serbs Croats and Slovenes, Bulgaria, and Turkey. All are stops on the path of the Simplon-Orient Express.

Some rules for the campain

Post by robertod »

Languages
When the group communicates with NPCs in a language other than English, as long as there´s someone who can translate, we can assume that the interpreter will translate everything for the whole group. There will be no need to specify this in the post, unless you want to mention that as flavor to the narrative.

Money
During the campain, we can assume that the characters don´t need to worry about money when dealing with common expenses: train tickets, hotel rooms, restaurants, tips, taxis and so on. Their income and Beddows offer is more than enought to cover all these things. The group doesn´t need to physically carry all the money they will need. Every chapter starts from a large city of Europe. In each of those cities, there are banks from which the investigators can withdraw the money they need. They can easily arrange this before leaving so to facilitate the process when they are there.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH TOC, KEEP IN MIND:

Investigation
You don´t roll anything to investigate. You just describe what your character does to search for a clue. If that is not already clear and mentioned in the description, tell the keeper the Investigative ability you are using. If there´s something there, you will find. Sometimes, when you find a clue, the keeper may offer you the possibility to uncover additional information. This requires more time and 1 or 2 points spending from your investigative ability (they are refleshed by the end of the chapter). Points spending is supposed to represent the effort and time you invest in a clue along the chapter.

Stability and Sanity
Summarizing, Stability is how much you still keep control of your thoughts. Sanity is about you valuating human life and human values in general.
A person suffering from psychosis has low Stability, but he/she can still have relatively high Sanity, as long as he/she still give importance to human values.
On the other hand, a Mythos cultist has very low Sanity, but his Stability may be high, as long as he/she still controls his/her thoughts, no matter how evil and perverse those may be.
