IC-Ep 3-The Gathering(Elizabeth/Gui/Jean Luc/Bey Abdu'l)

Duc's Palace, Guest Wing Corridor - Vyones, Auvergne, France

Elizabeth walked down the corridor, coming across an impromptu gathering in the middle of it. Henri was leading a small entourage consisting of two Middle Eastern-looking men, one very, very old, dressed in a red turban and an elegant silk outfit, the other younger and not quite as well dressed. Behind them were more servants carrying the guests' baggage. Speaking to them was Gui, and Jean Luc had also entered the hall from a door beyond him.

Bey Abdu'l observed tired at the increasing number of franklings, he didnt want to start talking with a supposed thief and much less have a group talk in the middle of the corridor while their things hadnt been settled yet. He spoke to his translator in Azeri.

"Clearly we have taken too much, we should not disturbed the corridor much more, and lets deal with our belongings and room, inform the servant Henri of my decision and lets continue on our pass. Ah, and I suppose the lady must be one of the Narnish women, tell her that I am deeply interested in this foreign land, and would love to document stories of it, for the libraries of Bagdad."

[Mr. Handy]

"The Great Bey is tired from his long journey and wishes to continue to his guest chambers," the younger man said in accented French to Henri. Then he spoke to Elizabeth. "The Great Bey gives you greetings, noble lady. He has heard that you are from the northern land of Narnia, which deeply interests him. He would love to document stories of this land for the libraries of Bagdad."

"Of course," said Henri, slowly proceeding down the hall.

Gui shrugged. Let the pompous oaf be on his way then!

He watched him leave, commenting to Jean Luc, ”That fellow’s from Baghdad, I believe. One of the great Persian cities…”

Given that it’s Gui and he has no idea whether Baghdad is Arabian or Persian, he’s going to guess.

Another eccentric guest! This one looks like a tough old nut, I wonder how he would measure up against Father Ignacio.”
Elizabeth smiles at the interpreter and his companion.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’d be happy to discuss, er, Narnia with you later but I must warn you, I haven’t met any unicorns myself personally.”
She looks at the huge train of baggage coming up the corridor. “Maybe over some tea later, after you have settled in?”

The Great Bey heard Elizabeth's answer and laughed, answering in french, for a moment.

"Joh Joh Joh. Thats unfortunate, I participated in the hunt of one, on the lands of the king of Ethiopia, when I was only in my sixties."

Remembering the past, he continued, now in Azeri, letting His translator speak for him.

"I would absolutely accept the invitation, if the Duc doesnt require my presence first, as I have yet to settle."

Hearing parts of the conversation as he approached Jean Luc spoke, "Bon Matin. My name is Jean Luc du Monet pleasure to meet you. I hope to hear some tales of your homeland over the course of the day, and of course to hear you opinons on the this .ost enigmatic play we are about to witness." He says with a bow before turning to Gui, " You are certainly keeping interrsting company these days." He whispers.

Gui shrugged enigmatically. ”One meets all sorts of fellows…” he said, as if meeting people like that were a common experience for him.

Elizabeth watched the gentlemen in the corridor, they were certainly eclectic and eccentric. She wondered if any of them would be willing to help in the coming hours. Something was going to happen, that’s why the TARDIS had brought Story and her companions to France but Elizabeth didn’t know what.

Watching Bey leave, Jean Luc turned to Gui, "Your new aquantice os a man of few words, how on earth did you two meet?"

”I merely encountered him in the corridor,” replied Gui. ”I tried to make polite conversation but he decided to be a cul de cherval about it. His loss!”

”Now, I was going to find some breakfast. Have you eaten?”

" Mon ami! I thought you would never ask, lead on." Jean Luc replied with a smile."Certainly an apt description"

“May I join you for breakfast?” Elizabeth asks Jean Luc and Gui, “My companions are still sleeping.”

" But of course mademoiselle, your presence will make the food more the sweeter." Jean Luc replied with a flourish.

Gui bowed also. ”We would be delighted to have you join us,” he said.
