IC-Ep 3-A Mission From God(Gui only)

The door opened quietly, revealing the darkened room. There was no change to the sounds around Gui yet.

No need to roll Listen again, as you just rolled it (successfully). The Sneak roll will probably be needed later, so I'll apply it at that time.

Gui made sure his scarf still covered his face, then padded carefully over to the door to the suite’s master bedroom…

Gui reached the door without incident. The snoring continued uninterrupted.

Gui very carefully turned the handle to the bedroom, rotating it very slowly and very deliberately. Once he had turned it as far as it would go, he eased the door open, all the while listening intently for any sound from within, that might suggest someone in there was still awake…

The door opened silently. Peering inside, Gui could see the playwright and his wife asleep in their bed. It was the playwright who was snoring. There was a sheaf of paper on the nightstand beside his side of the bed, next to an extinguished candle in a holder. Perhaps he had been reading it prior to falling back asleep.

Keeping low, Gui moved quietly to the side of the bed. He moved his hands gently over the papers, just checking that there was nothing that might fall and make a noise as he removed them…

The papers were bound by a silk ribbon. Gui's well developed night vision allowed him to pick out the title on the top page: "Le Roi en Jaune." Below it was a large, yellow symbol that just somehow seemed wrong:

Gui stared at the symbol with an eyebrow raised. There was something about it that made him feel like he had an itch at the top of his spine that he couldn’t quite scratch. He squirmed, rolling his shoulders until the feeling subsided, even though it didn’t dissipate entirely. No wonder the priest wanted it! It was bad enough the these people were thespians! It seems that they were demonologists as well!

Gui studied the two sleeping thesps, making sure they weren’t shamming before carefully making his way out of the room and back to the corridor beyond, ensuring that no one was waiting for him outside…

The actors remained slumbering, and Gui was able to purloin the script and make his escape without alerting them.

Gui swiftly made his way through the passageway until he found the empty room, through which he might exit into the main corridor once again. Checking that there was no one around, he stepped out carefully with the manuscript hidden under his jerkin and set off to find Father Ignacio.

I’m not sure Gui knows where the good father’s room is?

No, you don't know which room is his. Feel free to roll Navigate, and if that fails, you can roll Idea.

Don’t have much faith in getting my navigate roll so I’ll roll both together.

If I spend a point of luck to make that navigate roll a success, would that count as a successful roll in progression terms?

Gui realized that he could always ask a servant for directions, and there was one fairly close by. However, if he did that, the servant would probably remember him doing so - unless he were paid to forget.

There's no spending Luck in 6th edition, but even in 7th you don't get a check if you spend Luck to succeed. I will however allow you to roll Luck, as you only barely missed.

Gui knew he must be close to the priest's room, but he didn't know which one it was.

Can Gui see the servant or is he just aware one is loitering?

[Mr. Handy]

You saw him walking around down one of the halls.

Annoyed with himself that he hadn’t thought to confirm which room was the cleric’s Gui went off to find the servant. Spotting him around the corner, he hissed to attract his attention. ”Psst! Monsieur? I have need of you!” he said quietly.

[Mr. Handy]

"Oui, Monsieur?" asked the servant, walking up to Gui. "How can I help you?"

Gui held a finger to his lips to indicate the servant should keep his voice down. ”I am on an urgent assignment for Father Ignacio,” he whispered. ”It is of the utmost secrecy so no one must know I was here. I trust that I, and Father Ignacio, can rely on your discretion?” He slipped his hand into his purse and fetched out a few coins. ”I must make my report to him but I must confess, I cannot recall which room is his, for they all look the same to me.”
