IC-Ep 4-In Hospital(Everyone)

[Mr. Handy]

St. Bartholomew's Hospital - London, England
9:00 AM - Wednesday, September 11, 1940

As Reverend Archie Pennyfeather was relaxing in bed in his hospital room, the rest of his friends arrived to visit him, including Story, Elizabeth, and Brook. Several of them were carrying shopping bags.

[Snapper]

Archie:

"I say, how kind. And don't tell me, someone's brought grapes."

[Mephistophilis]

'I'm afraid we only have the light of the Lord to sustain you' says Anna, holding up her bag of oil and lamps.

“Although, maybe we can spare a sticky bun,” chuckles Eugene, pleased to see the good Reverend looking so well after his ordeal.

“My, you have perked up; you’ve got some colour back in your cheeks, Reverend Pennyfeather.” Phyllis beams.
“Here are some clean clothes and I took the liberty of collecting your wash bag and razor from the bathroom. Oh and your neighbour says she’s very sorry but her cat got in again. I’m afraid he’s made rather a mess in the pantry.”

[Snapper]

Archie:

"Phyllis, you are a treasure."

"And when you are quite surprised to be alive, even neighbours' cats and their activities are a pleasant event."

"I must tell you, Phyllis, of my interview with the police inspector." Archie briefly summarises his conversation. "Not really dishonest, just missing some details."

"The inspector told me that Mrs Steadman is here at Bart's as a patient. And she has reported the Major killed in the air raid."

OOC:   If Mr Handy had no objection, I'll just refer you to "Just the Facts." Archie does not skimp on detail with his friends.

[Mr. Handy]

"We're about to go after the Father of All Bats," said Story. "We have a plan to banish it. We have numerous sources of light, and we were also able to borrow the Dagger of Thoth from the British Museum's vault. It carries a curse of madness for whoever wields it, but it should be capable of defeating Nyarlathotep in all of his forms, including that one. After we leave here, we intend to go to the warehouse where it first took shelter, get by the Home Guard, and confront it in its lair while it's daylight and the creature cannot escape."

Eugene frowns at the mention of the witch Steadman, but takes comfort in the fact that she’s currently stuck in the hospital.

“Beware of that woman, you don’t know what she can do...” he mutters darkly. “She needs to be kept an eye on and made to stay here as long as possible, especially if her mum comes looking for her.”

“The way she was screaming when she ran off last night, I thought Mrs Steadman had totally lost her marbles. But I suppose so long as she’s kept away from her mother she can’t do any harm.” Says Phyllis.

“I don’t remember her being injured though; it must have happened after she ran away. I wonder what is wrong with her.”

At the description of the knife, Phyllis vows to herself not to pick it up. It sounds almost as evil as the Father of all Bats.

[Mr. Handy]

Phyllis Cruckshank, [b]Phyllis[/b] remembered exactly how [b]Madeline Steadman[/b] had been injured. She had hit her rather hard with her umbrella.

[Mephistophilis]

'Time to go hunting it would seem' says Anna.

[Snapper]

Archie:

"Brave warriors. What can I do to help?"

“Pray for us,” replies Eugene. “And do what you can to keep Steadman here, preferably away from her mum if she comes sniffing around.”

[aine]

Phyllis has turned bright red.
“Oh my, It might have been me; I suppose I must have hit Mrs Steadman rather harder than I thought with my umbrella. I’d best not run into her on the way out.”

[Snapper]

OOC, Mr H: What state is Archie in? Could he get dressed and find somewhere he could station himself to keep tabs on Mrs S?

[Mr. Handy]

OOC, Yes, [b]Archie[/b] can get dressed and walk around. He's just down to 2 HP, so the slightest injury would knock him out and could quite possibly kill him.

[Snapper]

Archie:

"Fear not, Phyllis, you acted to defend yourself and others." Archie can't really repress a grin.

"Now, I shall get dressed and find somewhere quiet where I can keep an eye on Mrs Steadman. And pray."

“You look after yourself, Reverend. I’ll be right back soon as we’ve sorted this pesky creature out.” Phyllis stands and, clutching her handbag and shopping, she nods to the others.

[Mr. Handy]

"Then let's go," said Brook.

"Not you," said Story. "You and Elizabeth are staying here."

"But-"

"No arguments. This is the most dangerous thing we've ever faced, and I'll not have you placed in unnecessary danger. I'd never forgive myself if anything happened to you. Besides, someone has to look after the Reverend and keep an eye on Madeline Steadman. I don't think she's ever met or seen you or Elizabeth, so that's an advantage."

"I remember we saw a picture of her in Professor Exeter's office," said Elizabeth. "She was only a little girl at the time. It's sad that she turned out the way she did. We'll stay here. It'll be all right, Brook."

"I shall remain here as well," said Maggie. "She doesn't know me either."
