Eugene and Angus were now cut off from Anna and the orderly, separated by a blank wall. The only trace of the passage was a vertical seam in the wall.

Eugene runs his hands along the blank wall.
“More of the witches magic...” he mumbles, looking for cracks.

There were no cracks, just the seam in the wall.

"Where have they gone?" Eugene asks himself. "The other side of the wall or have they been magicked away?"
He returns to the shelter, looking for any more attendants. Perhaps he can slip out and look for them?

There were a few other orderlies still in the basement shelter. They were keeping a wary eye on Eugene, so getting away would not be easy.

Seeing that the orderlies are watching him, Eugene retreats back into the circle of light with Angus; any thoughts of sneaking away in the shadows scuppered by the terrible darkness that would envelop him.

The orderlies looked perplexed, one of them tapping on the wall near the seam. "How could this have happened?" he asked.
"I dunno," said another. "I'm just glad I'm not the one who has to write up the report on this."
