Chapter 3- Borneo

Post by kabukiman »

Two days latter...
You are aboard a small passenger airplane, a few minutes away from landing at an airstrip near the headquarters of the military command in charge of enforcing the quarantine. The equipment (including lot's of food and water in bootles) is strapped in at the rear of the compartment.
Mount Kinabalu rises towards the sky to the left of the airplane as it darts through low cloud cover.

OOC: Everybody makes a spott hidden roll.

OOC:   Hard Success.

Crowley, as ever, is much cheerier while on an aircraft in flight. His eyes gleaming with excitement, he peers attentively out of the windows. Periodically, he comments of the attributes of the party's aircraft and the pilot's style.

Father Malone is also happier to be back out in the field. Any excuse to get away from the stuffiness of the university. He studies the Borneo jungle below, it seems more like home to him now than the bustle of New York.

"Dear god in heaven! We must get down! Pilot! Get us down near the ground, below the clouds! Now! We're about to be intercepted!" Crowley rushes forward to speak to the pilot.

Harry grabs a parachute and slips it on, just in case, positioning himself near the door and bracing himself. "Intercepted by what?" he asks. "Don't tell me the Luftwaffe's here."

When Crowley is almost near the pilot, you all feel a shock, like if something had crashed in it.

Butch: you see suddenly a head in the window... without a face. No eyes, no mouth.
Roll sanity. If fail, loose 1d6. If you pass, loose 1 point.

Crowley sees two creature breaking the window of the cockpit makimng the pilot and co-pilot fly away...
Another creature smashes in the rear, where all the equipment is...
And you hear several creatures in the ceiling of the airplane.

“Christ almighty!” Jan watches aghast as the two pilots disappear into the sky. She leaps from her seat, drawing her large field knife for protection.
“Can anyone fly this thing?” She roars.

Crowley yells back to Jan in irritation, "You do realise I was a captain in the Royal Flying Corps?!"

Frantically, he dives into the pilot's now vacated seat and takes the controls. "Someone come and shoot these bat creatures while I try to get us below the clouds!"

"Holy Christ!" Butch yells and grabs for his machete. He will strike at any that manage to break into the plane.

Harry draws his revolver and runs for the cockpit to start shooting at the creatures.

I was going to use the "No, can you?" line from Temple of Doom in response to Jan, but it won't fit now that Crowley has announced he can fly it. Since I have higher DEX, I guess we can consider that I said it first.

As the windows smash and something starts to take the plane apart, Alex shakes his head, 'Why am I not surprised?' He pulls out a hip flask and takes a quick pull. Then draws his revolver and heads into the back of the plane. He catches a sight of whatever it is attacking the rear of the aircraft and shudders involuntarily, 'Lord above, what is that?'

Desperately ripping open his bag, Alex locates his shotgun. Aware he doesn't have time to load it, he tries his best to steady his trembling hands and draws a bead with his .38 revolver, snapping off three rounds in quick succession that ineffectually ricochet off the fuselage.

Jan feels the panic rising as she feels the plane buck and dive, she swings the knife at some scaly claw as it reaches through the window next to her but the swerve of the plane causes her to miss.

The plane starts falling in direction of the ground; Harry it at the faceless creature blowing up the head and it started to fall dead; Alex sees another the creature falling in direction of him, having lost its balance.

Everyone make a dodge roll please.

Jan recognize immmediatly those creatures: they are Nightgaunt, creatures supposed to live in the land of dreams and protecting it from intruders but never going to the land of those awaken. It is indeed odd (beside the fact that you can see that they actually exist!).
